Xbox Series X / S

Not exactly a meaningful contribution to the thread but just another little plus one for the little S.
Away for two weeks and staying at my dad who still has a dumb TV but at least has internet.
The S is so small it was literally nothing to pack into my laptop bag and take it with me so I can watch Netflix and play the odd game.

It really does suck it doesn't have a disc drive :(. I've still got a lot of games on disc

CX is the one to get atm. It's a bargain. Comes with all the next gen features. C1 is not much of an upgrade...

yeah, apparently LG are doing a dirty and putting their new tech in the G1, I think it's called.

What's the best price you have seen for the 65" CX. R41999 at makro for me.

Would you get a CX to replace a B7?

Definitely. Has all the features to take advantage of the next gen consoles - 120 Hz, VRR etc.

Best price I've seen for 65" is also 42k. Incredible, Takealot and Stax all have it at the same price...

I think the 55" for 22k is a better deal. But that's just me. 55 should give a better pixel density over a 65 too if your sitting close.

Sure I get the price thing, but once you move up you can never move back down. Having had a 65" screen for 4 years, I could never move down to a smaller one. Would rather pay more to stay at the same size or go bigger...

Their releases by time zone are wack but Just Cause might be fun to stream
Tried it out a bit but too tired to get into it now.

Is there any workaround or fix for games downloading so slowly?

I'm on a Series X with a 200/200MB fibre line, with the Xbox on a wired connection.

I'm pulling down a game now and it's not going any faster than ~38Mbps.

I'm not playing any other games or using the Xbox while I'm waiting for the download to complete. I believe this was a thing previously but not sure if MS fixed it in the meantime?

I also rebooted the Xbox a couple of times (I believe this was also something that would've fixed slow downloads sometimes) but I haven't seen it make much of a difference yet.

There's also no other usage on my network right now, besides one other device streaming YouTube, but I can't see that making that much of a difference.

Any tips or tricks from anyone that managed to find a fix for this?

I am sorry, but this dude (in the video), has no idea what he is talking about.

Yes, ethernet will always trump wifi/wireless. I have never in my life heard of anyone using an ethernet cord. He also seems to be using megabytes/second instead of megabits/second - there is a difference.

No, simply changing your DNS to 1.0.0.1 will not automagically increase your download speeds. Test 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 and see what your pings are and as a rule, always use the one with the lowest ping. In fact, this should be set on your router itself, and not your end devices. Tweaking your DNS will only give you a better ping to the DNS server in the end - if your downloads are still being routed to the same server, your download speeds will NOT improve.

I have no idea what his whole alternate MAC/Port settings spiel was about...

The only time I've had issues with downloads was when games were running. Otherwise my Xbox chops and changes between 20Mbps and 100Mbps (my line). For the most part, it hovers around the top end. I use WiFi.

Close all games, as Xbox seems to hold the network connection.
