I agree, plus that is retail price, so they are probably getting it slightly cheaper as well...The only thing I can think of is that due to the devaluation of the rand the shipping costs have increased, but interestingly enough we don't get our consoles/games from the states, we get them from Europe. In UK you can get a game for 40 pounds. That is about R600. Also doesn't justify R1000; except for overpriced retail games...
check out this site if you want to order from overseas, http://www.dvdcrave.com, they have pretty good pricing and shipping costs.
Last time I checked, a 40foot container cost $3000. Thats huge, do you realise how many games they could stuff intop that thing? It wiould be peanuts per game.
That is unless games are delivered by airmail - in which case they should be that expensive...
Nonetheless, why doesnt someone bother opening a factory here for games? If the prices went down, more people would buy and there would be economies to be gained from such a move... Either that or a million little home made factories a la Mr. "I have a BenQ DVDwriter" up there...
