Xiaomi Note 10 Pro review

Quick update with a complaint.

Took a video today. Nothing fancy. 2 minutes long. Phone got very hot very quickly. Then it completely froze. Then it eventually restarted. Then it was buggy for a few minutes. Then it was fine again.

Hopefully just an anomaly but I've never had anything like that on a different phone.

That Samsung S22 is eyeing me hard right now...

If the S21 is anything to go by, the S22 will also have it's fair share of issues. Even if I can afford a R26k flagship, I will have a very hard time trying to justify the purchase. Had a Redmi Note 8 pro for 3 years and it only gave in over the past weekend when it went for a swim during a running race. R5k investment for 3 years' use is not bad and besides the meh camera, I never felt like it was holding me back in terms of performance or functionality.

It has happened on a few Note 10 Pros.

A Youtube comment mentioned deactivating the AI setting on the camera.

Try to do that & it might fix the issue.

Also be careful of the new update on the Note 10 Pro. Apparently the selfie camera stops working afterwards
Stops working altogether? That is quite the issue!

Are the guys getting MIU13 beta testers or is this the official release being rolled out? Nothing available to download for me :(

Not too sure exactly but I did apply to become a beta tester a couple of weeks ago but never received a response to the application then on the Monday just got a notification that I have an update pending around 3pm.

Isn't the upgrade to MIUI 13 realease determined by the version of the rom you're running on your phone? Could be that the global rom would maybe get it after the eu rom which got it after the Chinese rom. If you purchased your phone through Vodacom then there is a different Global rom that has to be created depending on the spec provided by Vodacom, so there will definitely be a delay in getting the upgrade.

That does make sense considering I purchased mine at Incredible Connection so base ROMs could've been different as I suspect from reading some of the comments my device is also a dual sim and haven't had some of the issues mentioned on the thread.

How often does Xiaomi release security updates?
This is my first Xiaomi phone and before this I still used a Samsung S8+ for which I received security updates on a regular basis, that was until the the S8+ became "end of life" and Samsung wasn't releasing security updates for that model any longer. That is what made me decide to replace the S8+ with a new Xiaomi Note 10 due to security updates. I see that the last security update I received on my Note 10 was 01/11/2021.

I want to say not often.

Still waiting for a more recent update here also...

My Mi 9T has reached the end of support and is now stuck on 2021-08-01 patch. So that was only 2yrs of updates since launch.

Quite poor.

Update.

I've gone back to my old Samsung S9+ again for now.

The Note 10, as lovely as it was, was just too bulky for me as a daily driver. Bulky when in pocket. Impossible to use one-handed, for me at least.

Also, I still haven't received a software update which is a bit concerning...

So I have a Vodacom version Redmi Note 10 which is still on MIUI Global 12.5.3.0 (RKFZAVC). Can I download the official global rom version and flash it to my phone using Xiaomi PC Suite without having to unlock the bootloader? This would be V13.0.4.0 (SKFMIXM).

Anyone know where I can get one of these repaired? It was dropped into the pool, firstly can't really turn off one of these phones without touch screen.
The odd thing is it worked for about an hour today after 24 hours just sitting. Now the screen is not responding again sigh so it's stuck with 73% of battery that could take days to drain.

Whereabouts do you live? I've had a few phones repaired at SUS, including a Xiaomi Note 8 and they've been great!

Okay realized I had an old OCTG usb hub that I hooked up via a USB b to c converter and used a mouse to b turn it off

For those buying phones on Takealot, is it as easy as putting in your sim card and away you go? No need to go to a MTN shop to change from one phone to the next?
