It really makes a massive difference! I was initially disappointed as it "felt" the same as the Note 8. Then when I realized that it's set to 60hz by default and I changed it, the difference was absolutely night and day!

I think that Vodacom does that on purpose so you don't use the second sim slot.

Yeah my wife didn't even notice until she went to use my P30 pro and was like why is it slow.

Yup. Disabling animations under Developer Options also helps. But that's the same for any Android phone I suppose.

Do you think the second SIM would work if I got a dual SIM tray? Or is it locked at a hardware or firmware level?

There's only one IMEI number listed under settings/about phone/all specs/status...

I guess that's a "no" then :(

It does not happen often, but my other Xiaomi phones did not do it, so I assume that the battery temp sensor is a little sensitive, maybe it's a good safety feature, but a little irritating nonetheless.

Exactly what I had two weeks ago. Battery stayed at 3 % for entire journey to durbs. I think Waze is the culprit.ended up directing one of ac vents To phone mount which helped massively

Maybe I should enable 120hz on mine. I think I was guessing phone used that mode when needed?

No, it's not "adaptive" like some other phones, which switch the refresh rate based on what's displayed. Try it out, it makes everything smoooooooth

It depends what you want out of a phone and the budget.

I basically had a budget of 4k and 4 options.

A22 5G - R3999(Game)
Dimensity 700,snappy and decent for gaming,Lcd with 90ghz refresh rate

Cons : mediocre camera & no gorilla glass



Xiaomi Note 10S - R4199(Vodacom site)
Mediatek G95, fast, mediocre camera and good screen.Stereo speakers
Issues : overheating, lack of custom roms, slow updates from Xiaomi. They neglect mediatek handsets.

Xiaomi 9T 5G - R3499(Incredible connection)
Dimensity 800u,decent chipset and good for gaming,decent stereo speakers.
Dim lcd, no led notification light, slow updates from xiaomi

Samsung A22 4G - R3999

I wish the green one was available.

Dual Sim, mediatek G80, Optical Image Stabilisation, Decent cameras, 720p Amoled screen, 90 Ghz refresh rate.

Cons : the Mediatek G80 is old now, only 64gb of storage, speaker quality could be better. No gorilla glass & It will be discontinued soon.

These Mediatek processors are impressive, especially with gaming.

In the end I chose the A22 4G.It has everything I need.

I am kinda tired of Samsung but I can't really fault them.

One UI is more polished these days, they are actually trying to make budget devices more competitive & they regularly update devices.

At least Samsung updates their mediatek devices.

I really want the Redmi Note 11 next. It looks so premium & has JBL sound.

It will probably launch in July.

I will have to tolerate Xiaomi's overheating issues & buggy software.


Oppo really need to improve the chipsets being used in their phones. Even Samsung gives you better value for money vs Oppo

I am going for a Samsung again . Over priced but it is working.
Updates every month and bootloader can unlock for the bloatware

Played around on other devices , the software feels empty (functionality ) compared to Samsung .
Yes you can download apps from Playstore , but for example exchange e mail apps are slow . Compared to Samsung E mail

Like you said , the One Ui seems to work now .

I don't care about the camera , or games , Can't fault Samsung on the business productivity of their apps .
The S22 ultra (new note) looks like the winner this year
 
The Note 10 pro is in stock again on Takealot after being out of stock for more than a month. I ordered Friday night and got it this morning. Seems like this version has NFC.

Anyone activated VoLTE, I see it is not activated by default. Tried a code I got by googling and it looks activated now. Is it recommended to use, why is it not on by default?

I'd also like to know voLTE is disabled by default. Does it work now that you've enabled it?

Vodacom requires most if not all dual sim phones to be converted to single sim phones and is a requirement that they request from the suppliers. There was an article I read a while back from Xiaomi SA that this is a requirement from Vodacom if they wanted to sell their brand through Vodacom thus the dual sim phones are converted to single sim and supplied to Vodacom like this.
Their was a member somehwere on this forum that had purchased a single sim Xiaomi from Vodacom but had re-installed the EU rom and could now see 2 IMEI numbers. He had ordered a dual sim from Amazon or somewhere and was waiting for the dual sim to arrive to test it. Not sure how far they got with this though.
