I used to worship them and go out of my way to buy from them. First it was the upping of the delivery fee (I understand why they did it, but they needed to keep it aggressive to keep up with brick and mortar).

Now their specials are all over the place and if you follow them, you will see this up and down pattern of BS mark downs
 
Has anyone been able to unlock the bootloader of the Redmi Note 3 Special Edition?(kate) Been trying for like 3 month and I keep getting the same error "Mi Account not bound to this device."

Extract MiUi 8 Global Developer ROM and replace recovery.img (in images folder) with ZCX TWRP's recovery.img

Flash using Mi Flash (in EDL mode) and check clean_all

After finished flashing process unplug and press [volume up]+[power] until Mi logo shows up then release buttons and it boots to TWRP (change TWRP language from chinese to english: click here)

Reboot to system and accept that TWRP disables/overwrites standard recovery

Boot to MIUI and complete initial setup (important step)

Shutdown device and boot to TWRP again

Perform factory reset and wipe system

Flash Psy_man's latest firmware, LineageOS 14.1 and GApps (ARM64, Android 7.1)

Wipe Cache, Dalvik

Reboot to system and you're DONE!!

This is what I did initially.
Eventually I was able to use the official method.
They do state that once you've requested the code,wait 14 days and then try it

EDIT: Dont try this yet,I used official TWRP to install it which resulted in a bootloop
EDIT EDIT: ZCX Twrp allowed the rom to boot.Will test some more and give feedback

Getting pretty decent battery life.
They've managed to iron out some of those issues. Hotspot seems to be working now
 
I've just ordered one from Afrihost. Will likely attempt to get the same rom going.

Does it support quick charge 2?

I'm on the 15th build. Everything's solid. Waiting for the features to get added.
 
Next month will be a year for us WeChat Note 3 owners and I was thinking, without this deal, I may never have tried Xiaomi. Because this was so cheap, I grabbed one and I am 100% converted to the brand now and will definitely keep buying their models. It may take a year or 2, but MIA's WeChat play here has worked to get fingers on phones and gain long term customers.
 
Installed Android Oreo (NitrogenOS) yesterday, really impressed how stable and usable it is already!

I took my Wechat Note 3 to IC in Tygervalley with a broken primary mic, got it back about 2 weeks later, repaired.
Had to email their support first to send me the invoice, they wouldn't accept the online order confirmation.
