The MD5 hash of the file on ftp.agasa.co.za is BB25707C919DD835A9D9706B5725AF58 (checked serverside).

Not that it matters because the CONFIRMED MD5 for the official release directly from Microsoft TechNET/MSDN website is: BB25707C919DD835A9D9706B5725AF58

The file is a copy of the version sent to OEM hardware partners. As far as I know, the same build is scheduled for Windows Update release on the 29th.

I think XP Gold was actually the first release with SP1 integrated and the disk is a Gold colour, I should still have mine somewhere. Maybe you're confusing Gold with the slang for when a product, normally games, are completed and "go gold".

Nope that is what the Microsoft employees call it on Technet forums and Microsoft itself also refers to it as such, the "Gold" edition you are talking about is a crappy warez edition that is/was popularly released on the internet with a gold CD. The official term would probably be Windows XP with no service pack applied ;)

And yes the term originated from the use of "Product X went gold".

But call it what you want, it's the very first release, Vanilla or whatever.

A quicker way to check what Service pack you're running, if any, it to just press WinKey+Pause/Break, or from any Explorer window,,, Help > About. ;)

Ah cool :D

Yes that exact same file is also available on the Microsoft Technet website.

So... if you create a slipstream SP3 disk using SP1 or SP2, IE7 wont be included because it does not come with SP3 including WMP11 right?

You can add it afterwards with nlite I presume

Service Pack 3 doesn't come with IE7 or WMP11.

To create a integrated copy with both of them you:

Copy you Windows XP cd to say: C:\WXPCD

Go into Command Prompt and go to the folder where you have the SP3 file and type "WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe /integrate:C:\WXPCD"

Download this program: http://web.clicknet.ro/boooggy/
And follow the instructions for integration, I added all the latest Windows Media Player Hotfixes also, there are 14.

After that you donwload nLite: http://www.nliteos.com/download.html

And then you download IE7 integration pack here: http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4289

Take the alternative one, worked perfectly for me.

In nLite pick the options you want (like removing components you don't need) and also Integrate Hotfixes, there you add the IE7 pack.

After that is done you'll have a customized Windows XP SP3 + IE7 + WMP11 ;)

EDIT: Also if you look carefully you'll see that you can enable UXTheme.dll hack as well as the TCP/IP hack. I don't recommend disabling the Windows File Protection unless you have some kind of reason for doing so ;)

I found that SP3 has slowed down my PC.
Where as startup took 30sec it now takes 3min
My FPS in games went from 30-40 down to 5-15

Things dont look so good any tips guys.
Im thinking about Reinstalling Windoze and installing SP3 on fresh copy then only install all the crap ive collected.

If you can, integrate it. Results in less wasted diskspace and a cleaner install than installing the SP later on.

Erm...how long does it take to install after you've first restarted your PC? It's showing the Windows logo and telling me to "please wait..." but it's been like that for like half an hour now =/ I don't hear my PC thinking either lol.
