We seeing good traffic levels to Google in JHB.

Are you experiencing issues now?

Afrihost is currently experiencing some terrible routing configurations, they will be working on it soon as i have informed them.

AfriNatic is a PR guy and if you have the time to entertain him, go ahead, but he isnt going to be able to assist you very much. Try contact [email protected] , they are way more helpful and informed me of these issues instantly, while the PR guy had me in DMs all week making out like its my hardware.

Looks like tons of people having issues to multiple sources, but its everyones lines and hardware, it must of been a solar flare, oi my.

Morning,

YouTube is unfortunately still and issue. Google has made changes but agrees that there is still major issues in JHB and our many tickets to Google noc all agree that they are rerouting traffic due to capacity contraints in Johannesburg SA and Mobasa Kenya.

Our orders for big Caches in JHB that we want to deploy is also being questioned by and hampered by Google. It seems they are favouring peering over content cahces hosted on networks so do not want to issue new GGC's.
 
strange why its fine on vox , cellc and mtn but bad on afrihost.

If they are favouring peering is that not an avenue that should be looked at?

Any chances of a CT google peer?

So is the YT issue not affecting WC then? since I am not experiencing any issues

That is how how we did it all the time in the Northern region.

We have NAP and we intended it to be used as intended however the growth might have exceeded Google's planning as that is the reason we are currently facing this issue. Google doesn't have enough capacity to serve content from JHB during the evening peak and the capacity constraints aren't on the peering links but rather further along their network.

We have caches in CPT and DUR so clients will not experience issues in these regions.
 
I've been experiencing much better YouTube performance especially in the evening. Has Google/Afrihost fixed the issue? This is the latest update on the Afrihost status page:
Google is in the process of adding additional capacity. Unfortunately, we currently do not have an ETR on when the process will be completed. We are exploring other options to improve the experience in the interim. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Hi,

There has been some changes made by Google in JHB but we haven't received official confirmation that the issue is completely resolved yet.
 
I have some routing issues now as well. Everything is down. I can’t even ping the default gateway from the router or 8.8.8.8 or anything.
It was working about 15 minutes ago
 
After that change I have no ipv4 connectivity and only partial ipv6. So something else got broken at Afrihost as well
