Zest T1

Is there anyone here who knows what that antennae stickers are that are stuck to the back (inside) of the phone? Could anyone link me to an actual part? I'm wondering if they are boosters or the actual antennae... And I am hoping with a link or more info I could replace them myself. I've given up on Zest Mobile's support.

Just to let everyone know: All this talk of a Cape Town repair center was garbage, and I was lead on the whole time. There is no Cape Town repair center. I first contacted Zest Mobile on the 15 July regarding in warranty and out of warranty repairs. It's been over a month.

I don't recommend Zest Mobile as a company you deal with. Their phone isn't bad (I think) spec wise, and if you get one that works then great. Just hope for no problems. I didn't have any of the problems that some people had with funky batteries and data loss, so I count myself lucky in that regard. It just seems like too much of a risk to hope you get a working device.

Again, if anyone can help with the antenna issue, I would be so grateful. Otherwise, for my screen issue I am going to speak to Afrihost support (I think that is who I'm supposed to talk to for in warranty repairs, because when I contact Zest's repair service company they use they said "out of warranty repairs").

Best of luck, other Zest users.

I'm one of the lucky ones, with a proper working phone. I thought when I saw that their flagship model was coming, that I might get that next- but I think my next device will be a Nexus again.

My phone seems to have my number as blocked so it comes up as private whenever I phone. I want to try and unhide my number but I cannot seem to find the settings for it in KitKat.

does anybody know where I can change the caller id setting on the Zest T1?

Thanks

Isn't caller ID (CLIP and CLIR) network dependant?
I'll see if I can find anything but nothing comes to mind.

Found it:

In the dialer app, go to settings, voice call settings, additional settings, choose relevant sim, caller id

Open the Dialer (Phone). Press the Menu button and choose Settings>Call Settings>Additional Settings. Then choose the SIM card you use for voice calls then Choose Caller ID and change the settings there. CLI is network dependent, so the option will only be available if CLI is enabled for your SIM card by your network provider.

Thanks guys Found it.

just as a note for anyone else having the problem

It was:

click on phone
click on the three dots on the right hand side of the bottom of the phone
settings
voice call
additional settings
choose sim card
caller ID

so basically exactly what you guys said above

Thanks for the help

Need assistance ...

I'm failing to partition the phone because when the battery is removed, the USB connects and disconnects instantly. Only when the phone has been switch on USB connects successfully. How do i scan all the ports 16 ports using the SP Mulch-port download software without the battery?

Uh, wait... I had this on my Nexus... Can't remember how I fixed it though :(
I think you need to try and remove all the phone drivers, start again.

@sonxEr77 You pretty much have to sit in device manager and try and catch it with a right click for the very brief moment it appears, took me many tries.

@jaffar, the driver is already installed, problem is to keep the COM port showing on Device Manager long enough to scan. When device is on, i can browse through memory in explorer, but still not showing on device manager

@ Sykomantis .. I've uninstalled driver, no success ... Where should this device show on Device Manager except under Ports?

@sonxEr77 There is a different driver for normal USB (Battery in) and for the fastboot mode. If I remember correctly I started the scan and then plugged the device in with no battery, when something uses the device as its plugged in then it keeps alive. It never showed up in my device manager at all besides the Unknown device for a second (At which point I selected the driver).

Did this a while ago so memory may be rusty.

Okay, so here is my first major problem.
Just yesterday I picked up my phone to see that it was dead. I put it to charge and after it was complete it died within half a day of NO USE! The phone feels constantly hot (almost 50 degrees Celsius according to Antutu) which I assume cannot be healthy for the phone. And to top it off, I think the heat had an effect on the flash because it that doesn't work now too.

Oh the nightmare that I see coming :(

I cannot say whether battery issues are all the T1's fault. I had a 32GB class 10 microSD card that got corrupted after copying a 2GB file to it from my PC via USB. This caused "Media" to drain the battery. I recommend people with battery issues to tap on battery in settings and see what is draining it and then Google the issue. I sorted mine by formatting the SD card.

An aside, but I've since replaced my 32GB card as it will never get filled. The photo quality is so poor that the 8MP images take a third the space that those from my Galaxy S2 did. Also Android KitKat does not allow file managers to write to the SD card and apps cannot simply change their storage to the external SD card. So the extra space will hardly get used. I've now got a 16GB card. I'm just a tad concerned the 2G internal storage after partitioning will get filled.

Oh dear! Zest T1 now available from Axxess!

I don't know if Axxess is really smart for letting Afrihost bear the brunt of the initial teething issues or they are really dull for not seen that there are still many issues that still need addressing. Well, time will tell.

Or maybe no longer selling well at Afrihost, and they need to move their remaining stock.
