Mine has been running for a few hours now.

Solid phone. Good screen. Alright audio. Seamless dual sim operation.

Can't comment on the battery life yet.

My only gripe would be the screen responsiveness and accuracy(as reported by others) but it is not a deal breaker. Just something to get used to when you come from Xperia Z1 Galaxy S background. And can't expect a perfect phone for R2000.

I'd give it a 7/10 so far.

And yes, the cover is a bit meh!

According to Afrihosts terms of the Warreny: https://www.afrihost.com/landing/zest_t1/ "Using incorrectly sized SIM cards, and any physical damage as a result, is deemed to be improper use or abuse of the product. This effectively voids the manufacturer’s warranty and therefore will not be exchanged or returned. This further extends to the use of unapproved accessories or modifications which effectively void the warranty on the product. In such circumstances, Afrihost will not be liable to repair or replace any such devices and no further correspondence will be entered into once the device is deemed to be out of warranty."

Now I don't see how rooting can be perceived as a modification. If anybody can argue that it is, then any app downloaded should also be. I scene a legal battle.

Maybe not, their Facebook page "likes" Cyanogenmod.

Got my phone today. I used it a bit to check that everything is working, and HELL YEAH :D it is. It charged to full from 45% life in about an hour (impressive). Got the screen guard on with no bubbles. All is good. 8/10.

So I charged this thing on Monday evening. Running at 13% now with light-normal use. If this battery performs like this consistently, I'll be one happy chappy.

Has anybody found a computer interface for the Zest T1 like eg Nokia Suite?
Its handy to be able to back up contacts and messages.

You moved apps from the internal storage to phone storage didn't you? I think the flaw is with the launcher, I switched to Nova and it doesn't have this problem.

This is definitely the problem - when I switched launchers, I got my icons back for those apps I moved to phone storage....

Nope, still not solved. I'm at the stage where I decided to take the phone back to Afrihost and if they are able to get it onto the mobile network I'll humbly apologise to the support desk agents for being an idiot.

If not and I must get a new phone because this one is faulty...

Got the phone swapped out yesterday and must say, now I'm really impressed. Afrihost support did take about an hour trying to do the set-up before conceding, but the coffee was good enough to make up for the wait.

Managed to get CWM on but it gets cleared on the next reboot, there is a file that causes the recovery partition to be overwritten from stock and I cant seem to get rid of this file. Hopefully I will find a way and then hopefully changes to root will stick.

Have tried many root programs and techniques and the only one that seems to have any light at the end of the tunnel is SP Flash tool with MTK Droid.

Should be 100% fine. All run on the same voltage.

The BB uses micro USB. I use one for my Nexus 5 because the cable is nice and long.
My T1 is only arriving this afternoon so not sure if it had a micro USB, but if not does - then yes.

The plug should fit, however the effectiveness of the charger is based off how much current it can deliver. The Zest( like most smartphones) need 1 amp to charge. Look for a sticker on the charger. It should give the output current in miliamps. If it is less than 1000, your phone won't charge as quickly.

Hey

I also got my Zest a couple of days ago. It is a great phone but mine seems to have a strange issue now and then with the screen. It starts to flicker quite a bit and then just goes black/blank. Switching the screen on and off does nothing and the only way to get it back is to take the battery out and back in. I made a video here http://youtu.be/tPWZBtmfV_A

Think I might need to send it back as it has done this a few times now already. Any ideas what might be causing it?

I had a similar issue on my Note, turned out to be the battery, a good test, keep the phone plugged into the charger a see if it does the same...
