Zest T1

Changes:
* My wallpaper was changed
* My phone has less available storage (so now I keep getting low storage space notices, and I will not uninstall the apps I have)
* There is now a delay when I type (that was never there before)
* Proximity sensor still does not work during calls.

What did this update do?

Downloading now. Will have to see, but in your case sounds like it made it worse.
No word on the partitioning? What's up with that. TO the people who inboxed them on Facebook, what's the word?

Less space available since the update took up more of the limited space available due to ridiculous partitioning.
Proximity sensor still doesn't correctly turn the screen off during calls (it turns off then immediately back on again).
Maps does seem to be fixed based on a quick test (before it crashed for me almost immediately after opening it).
I never noticed any touch screen issues before, so I can't speak to that.
YouTube app still freezes video for a second when starting to play a video, resulting in the sync being off.

I was told via facebook that they have to do the flash in person to fix partitioning. For someone not in Gauteng, I was told to wait.

I'd really like to know what the "minor bugs" they fixed were.

Now, cannot check maps - not enough free memory
Scrrenshot function does not work
Cannot post via tapatalk (No host found: mybroadband.co.za) - so that's data connectivity issues
Cannot receive any text messages (storage full)

Response received from Zest:

"As one can imagine, we have to systematically respond to each query and thank you for your patience. Debbie Smith will handle your issue. However unfortunately she is away until Friday night to train agents."

LOL, will tell my wife not to do the update. As things are going now I will definitely not buy their Zest Accelerate.

I've found at least partial reason for the storage issue- bunch of ***** extra apps come bundles with the update, which takes up some of the internal space. Busy moving these to see what the impact is.

Thus far, I am NOT impressed.

Has anyone noticed that BBM and instagram were included in the update...
Maps seems to be fixed, only after I moved more stuff to phone storage.

Ashamed to say I already had BBM and Instagram on the phone :P Did notice adobe reader was included in the update as well.

Well now we know why the update was 130 something meg.

Maps FC's immediately, so that's clearly not fixed. ( I had to delete some of my apps, cause I need to check incoming text messages)

If this OTA was supposed to fix the reported issues, then it has failed to do so. Instead, we downloaded 135mb of wallpapers and apps we don't really need. @ZestMobile/@AfriMan, please respond.

Screenshots seem to work fine.
Posting from Tapatalk as well.

My maps also crashed, but I think it was an internal storage issue. Google maps is installed on internal storage, and probably uses it for cache or something. Once I had cleared some space (about 250 MB free), maps started working fine.

Not impressed with the bundling of apps though. They know the phone has storage issues, so why do they bundle apps that default install to internal storage? I am thinking that the phones they use for development are not being used as actual phones so there is probably plenty of free space when they test.

Go and move all the apps to phone storage away from internal storage. You'll at least be able to take screenshots and receive texts.

Also, uninstall all the newly unwanted BS they're forcing down our throats.
New apps I saw:
News24
Uber
Instagram
Keep
Messenger (fb)
Shazam
Skype
Twitter

These are only the ones I noticed. Might have missed a few. None of these are apps I want or use, or can't download myself when I want/need them... So, what gives?

First issue NOT fixed:
The input methods still **** themselves when you restart the phone or turn usb storage on or off- have to manually select Swiftkey/Android L/your keyboard of choice every time

Second:
Touchscreen responsiveness is still much of a muchness- doesn't seem like it changed at all.

At least tapatalk now works again. Have not tested maps yet
