Zest T1

I had FB and Adobe Reader already.
Busy uninstalling all the unwanted stuff.

Maps FC's immediately, so that's clearly not fixed. ( I had to delete some of my apps, cause I need to check incoming text messages)

If this OTA was supposed to fix the reported issues, then it has failed to do so. Instead, we downloaded 135mb of wallpapers and apps we don't really need. @ZestMobile/@AfriMan, please respond.

My maps also crashed, but I think it was an internal storage issue. Google maps is installed on internal storage, and probably uses it for cache or something. Once I had cleared some space (about 250 MB free), maps started working fine.

Not impressed with the bundling of apps though. They know the phone has storage issues, so why do they bundle apps that default install to internal storage? I am thinking that the phones they use for development are not being used as actual phones so there is probably plenty of free space when they test.

Go and move all the apps to phone storage away from internal storage. You'll at least be able to take screenshots and receive texts.

Also, uninstall all the newly unwanted BS they're forcing down our throats.
New apps I saw:
News24
Uber
Instagram
Keep
Messenger (fb)
Shazam
Skype
Twitter

These are only the ones I noticed. Might have missed a few. None of these are apps I want or use, or can't download myself when I want/need them... So, what gives?

First issue NOT fixed:
The input methods still **** themselves when you restart the phone or turn usb storage on or off- have to manually select Swiftkey/Android L/your keyboard of choice every time

Second:
Touchscreen responsiveness is still much of a muchness- doesn't seem like it changed at all.

At least tapatalk now works again. Have not tested maps yet

Install your keyboard app to internal storage. Whenever it gets unmounted(when you mount usb storage), Android loses the keyboard you have assigned it to use. It isn't really a bug.

I know that- in my eyes, I shouldn't have to do that. It should just work.

Anyone else notice battery drains quicker?

If only "just work" was a reality for Android (or any ) dev...

Not really. Wouldn't be fair atm since I have spent some time messing around with settings.
Will give it a fair test tomorrow when I usually charge.

Oh my word, Zest releases OTA which puts even more strain on limited app partition. I'm sure their goal with OTA wasn't to radically increase support issues, and decrease customer satisfaction, but that's what's about to go down...

I think they might have included a gapps bundle along with some of the other apps that was mentioned earlier in this thread. I noticed this because there are some google apps now that I normally remove as soon as possible.

After uninstalling all the unwanted apps that was so kindly bundled with the OTA, everything for me seems to be working very well for me. The accuracy of the touch screen is also a lot better now. I have not experienced any of the other problems mentioned except for the storage portioning before the update and none of the issues crept in after the update, so I am still very happy with the phone.

Does your screen turn off correctly during calls when something is placed in front of the proximity sensor?

Yip, worked before the update and still works now. I just tested to confirm.

Congrats on winning the Zest lotto lol

Honestly the only big issues I have with this phone are:
1. Partitioning is stupid
2. Flash is yellow on the edges of it's cone of light
3. YouTube app doesn't work correctly most of the time

Other than that, it's great for my purposes.

I'm really not liking the communication issues with Zest though.
Not delivering on promises without explanation, not giving a public statement about the partition issue even though they said it would be fixed previously, and they get really defensive, and a tad rude, when confronted with criticism and even jokes.

I don't know if they will be able to fix the flash. Seems like a hardware issue.

Thanks, I'll take it... I have not had any issues with YouTube, not that I am a heavy YouTuber but I have used it a few times. The flash is not great but in my opinion the flash and the camera (and other hardware for that matter) is fair for the pricetag.

Yeah I know, and I've accepted it, but it probably should have been noticed before production or in QC that the light is mostly yellow.

I am occasionally getting a pop up saying "Unfortunately, Google Search has stopped."

I got that right after the update, but after clearing some space on internal storage (by removing unwanted bundled apps) and rebooting the pop-ups stopped.

The irony is, all my apps were up to date. Now, after the OTA update, I have to re-update 7 of those....
