so zim internet providers have to follow this?

It amounts to censorship, and amounts to what a dictatorship like China might do.

then again, zim isnt a democracy so there is that...

Saw some nasty pictures on Facebook of the riots there and what security forces have done, sommer blixem the krap out of them.
It's no wonder they shutdown the internet there, cant have the world see us for what we really are.

I wonder how hard it would be to hook up an old dial-up modem to your phone line, and then route the traffic through your broadband connection. That way Zim folk could dial in to your modem and regain internet access the good old fashioned way.
It's not about the west knowing, it's about stopping zim people from organising a revolution.

true, a colleague of mine showed me photos on whatsapp, quite brutal,

and in all of this, where is el presidente? on holiday in Singapore, or dubai where all the dictators hide away.

anybody think their might just be a coup in zim? as people look fed up and ready to explode.

The China censorship is not as bad as what has been done in ZIm, 2 of the biggest telecomms providers (Econet and Telone) have shut the internet entirely so even VPNs won't work. Like not a single bit of theri customers' data has moved in those networks since yesterday

Rather dumb of the Zim and others like them who shutdown the internet to try suppress unrest. If they were smart they'd institute a temp tax on sms/WhatsApp/etc and earn a few more pennies as usage goes through the roof.

Nothing different to what happened in Catalonia then.

They buy electricity in units of $5 or less and almost all domestic users are on prepaid meters, so many buy for $1 at a time.
Puts a new meaning to pay as you use.

086 Fax lines only work within the borders of SA, they don't work internationally.
It's a kind thought, but all these people are gonna hear is an error message.
