From what you can see, the speeds are back to "normal", that being very slow.
As for the update on what's happening with iBurst, I phoned them today to check whether they had received the report and tests from the technician who was here yesterday. They said they had received everything, and they they were working on it.

Speeds have increased slightly, but don't let the numbers fool you. I can't even watch a short 2 minute YouTube video on the lowest quality. It loads and plays the video for about a minute or less, and then kills out resulting in me having to try again from the beginning. I also can't download any files larger than 20MB without the download dying partway. At least Steam works, although very slowly. It's just enough to allow me to play some games, though downloads are taking forever.
I'm still waiting on iBurst to get back to me. I suppose it'll take some time, so I'll just suffer for now.
 
I'm back with more speedtests. Yeah, I skipped out on the weekend, because it was the weekend and I wasn't bothered about it. However, I'll do some speedtests this weekend just to get an idea of what my signal is like then. I'll also do them around midday. As for now, this is today's speedtest.

And there you have it. Ping is generally good as always, but speeds have been bad today. Here's an update on what's being done about it.

Today, I lost patience and phoned iBurst, asking them for an update. They told me that they've analysed the tests, and that I should move on to iBurst ADSL. To be more specific, the iBurst guy told me that there was no real issue with my signal, and that even if I had an iBurst Flat Panel it wouldn't change things because the problem lies with the signal consistency, or something to that effect. I suppose that's why my speeds are inconsistent and generally slow? Probably not, but I don't know. I asked him about what can be done to get my connection back to the way it used to be. The iBurst guy recommended that I move to iBurst ADSL. What that means is that I need to now get and pay for a phone line, as well as for line renal. I'll also need a router. It'll be expensive and at the end of the day, I'll be paying more than what I'm currently paying. However, I'm currently paying for a bad connection. Can't cancel with iBurst because the cancellation fees are insane. "What now?"
That's what I asked iBurst. They told me that they will send out another technician, and that if he can't fix the problem they will take things further. Heck if I know what they mean by that. At the end of the day, all I want is a reliable, solid internet connection that's running at good speeds. I'm not asking for much ...

Well, all that's left for me to do is to wait for the new technician to come by, and then we'll see what happens. I'll be giving updates on that, together with new speed tests.

Speed inconsistency and signal inconsistency is a problem, and they do affect the speed tests I do. So sometimes I have to redo the speed test to get a "better" result. This time I decided to show you such a moment.

As for what's happening with the new technician coming out to sort out my problem, I have no new news on that. I haven't been contacted regarding times or dates that they might come out. I guess they're kinda busy, so I'll hold out for a few days? On another random note ... why are the days going by so quickly? Wednesday already ...

This is truly ironic. The world really does work in strange ways. Today, I come here with amazing news, and I can't properly share it with anyone because I can't really do any speed tests other than the iBurst one. Well, that test will have to do. Here is is:

Shocking, right? For the first time in just over a year, my connection seems to be fixed! And it was all thanks to iBurst, and the technician Francois!

Still can't believe I'm saying thanks to iBurst. It just seems so unreal ...
Yet iBurst really does deserve thanks. Francois too. That man knows what he's doing. He arrived completely kitted out and prepared for almost anything and everything. He's not scared to climb a ladder and go more than 2 stories high just so that he can get on the roof and do signal tests. He also knows where the base stations are. This alone puts the first technician who came out a week ago to shame. Francois was completely professional and very helpful. He kept me involved throughout the whole process, and showed me what the problem was. He phoned iBurst and notified them of the problem and what it would involve/cost. Within minutes iBurst phoned him back, told him to proceed with fixing the problem. This was all at around 05:30pm. Francois had his work cut out for him, and it was not an easy job. He had to go onto the roof a few times, as well as into the roof, but by 08:30pm he was done, and for the first time in a year I'm really happy to be with iBurst.

I guess miracles do happen ~
But I'd like to first wait until international speeds are up and running again. Then I'll be able to do my normal speed tests and really see what speeds I can get.

I just got my iBurst invoice via e-mail.

Do they seriously think it's fair to ask people to pay for such crappy service?

The following speed tests were done using 1Mb Desktop Modem (with the latest drivers for the modem and for the dashboard), connected to a Flat Panel Antenna.
The MTU has been set to 1392, QoS has been disabled and so on.

Download speed = 0.82Mbps
Upload speed = 0.28Mbps
Ping = 44ms
Speed Consistancy: 86%

2) Johannesburg server

The only concern is with the international latency being high and that's probably because I tried the New York Server, but otherwise everything else looks good.

Ignoring the upload speed, isn't this result a bit weird considering that I have a 1MB Modem? Maybe it was just a fluke? After redoing the test, I got these results:

That looks better, but what's with that bad upload speed? If I use other speed tests, the upload speeds are normal, but using the MYBB international speed test the upload speeds are all in the 50 kbps range.
