Score free gigs with the Cell C data promotion

hi everyone,

as i'm sure you know, many people are expecting the cell c data promotion to launch in durban towards the end of this month. so the question is - if you activate the data sim on let's say, the 29 september, do you have two days to use your 2 or 5 gigs and does that count as your first month? the cell c rep on this site has told me that you will in fact get those gigs for free, and that the 1 october (in this scenario) will count as your effective start date.

so let's hope that the service launches in durban a couple of days before the end of the month so we can get to appreciate some downloading gratis...
 
I wouldn't trust that happening though (i pray i am wrong :) ) as we know that the data per month does not get carried over.

Also if this was actually going to happen, does this mean the guys N gals @ PE etc lost out ....

As mentioned before, Cell C has made provision for this, which means that everyone actually scores, and no-one loses out. One of our core values is to be "FAIR".
Your actual bundles will officially start on the 1st of the new month. So, essentially, if you take out your package on 29 September, you have 2 days to use your BONUS 2 or 5 gigs. It won't count as your first month. October will then be Month 1.

Hi Cell_C,
Can we take the september 29th as the launch date officially?
 
Does anybody still think that they are going to launch in Durban tomorrow? They launched in East London today. So Durban is not the 3rd city to get it.
 
somehow i doubt it. people are saying it's launching in cape town on thursday... 3 cities in 3 days seems too good to be true.

I agree with you. If they are launching tomorrow they could have annouced already because they announced about the day after tomorrow's launch of capetown.
 
So what you're saying is that if you take it on the 2nd then you score a whole month free?
 
Awesome! Very very impressed... Vodacom would probably want to charge you at R2/mb or something...

I asked this question elsewhere -- but I seem to be getting closer to an answer here.

So if I do the deal on say the 7th of December 2010 then the first month is January 2011 ???

Dayum, I just read in another thread that, if I buy the 5GB package today, I can get an extra 5GB to use before the end of the month!

I was waiting for 1 December and, in the meantime, wasted money on topping up my current 3GB Vodacom bundle!

FACEPALM!!! :mad:


BTW, has the CellC rep confirmed that this is, in fact, the case?

It was confirmed by many. Correction: 1st of the month is the worst case: you probably get no bonus gigs at all.
