Airtime being used for data despite having a data bundle

I currently have 36gb left of a 50gb data bundle that I bought.

Whenever I add R50 to make the occasional phone call the left over money slowly depletes. I have contacted Cell C and they have said my remaining money gets used for data. How is this a fair policy, if a policy at all?

Also, I am on pay as you go, how is there to apparent possible way for me to request and get itemised billing of where my money has gone?

Is all the above standard industry policy? Do I need to lodge a complaint to ICASA in order to get them to stop doing this and even possibly get a refund for all the money they have basically stolen from me?

(Oh and I have no subscription services, they gave me a number to dial to check that and it said I have non)

Hi KingLuc

Simply dial *147#, select 'My account' then 'Spend Control- Out of Bundle spend settings' and follow prompts.

How does this fix my issue of airtime being used for data whilst I still have available data on my 50gb bundle?

How exactly can I stop my airtime being used for data via the options on that menu?

The way I see it is that menu is set up for me to decide how my airtime is spent when I have depleted my bundle, in this case the bundle still has 36gb remaining on it, so there is absolutely no need for it to use my airtime money for it?

And I think it was you I spoke to on Twitter yesterday, I'm still waiting for an email and phone call as promised by ^SM on Facebook.

And yes, I've now tried to figure this out on 3 fronts, none of it is making any logical sense.

If it slowly depletes it isn't a data issue, so yes, it doesn't make logical sense for you to have believed that from the agent :p . You are probably subscribed for some WASP service and should stop such services, however one does it on Cell C.

Thanks, but it is not a WASP service, they asked me to dial *133*1# and it confirmed I have no subscriptions.

From what I've been told so far, is that it's using any airtime balance I have for data until it is gone, and then told this is not the standard policy, but somehow this is happening.

Also there is no way I can access my usage history without putting in a formal request (which I requested yesterday).

So now I wait for them to contact me, been promised an email and a phonecall, let's see how that goes!

I ask direct questions and you guys blatantly ignore replying to them, just saying "somebody will contact you", this doesn't answer my question, do you not know the answer, or are you doing your best to avoid explaining yourselves???

Still waiting for that phone call Cell C!!! so good to see you care so much.

And you the one who gave me the time frame, so please do not dare use the excuse that you guys are busy right now.

In my experience cell c has crap network so it always ends up roaming on another network. The R500 50gb bundle you have is cell c only internet. So if it roams it won't use that bundle but will use your airtime. That's why it's a good idea to turn on that option to warn you/stop out of bundle data use. And switch off data roaming on your device if you don't want to use airtime instead of your data bundle

Hi mozammil09

When did you start experiencing an issue regarding the connection?
