Windows Phone 7 launched in South Africa

"One of the first updates to be delivered via the Zune client will be the ability to cut/copy and paste on Windows 7."

All phones should be able to do that *Makes a wish*

The iPhone didn't have copy/paste for a very long time & it didn't really bother me.

Windows phone 7 is the only real contender for my interest besides the iPhone 4 when I upgrade later. Wonder if it'll be available.

get the next version after updates....look at android and iphone. 2 years to develop at least....

Yeah, also the hardware specs of the Windows 7 phones....the GPUs & CPUs of the phones are not the latest and greatest.

The new HTC Desire HD's GPU & CPU runs circles round it.

microsoft is attempting to redefine the word 'launch',i have lost count of how many times they launched winmo 7,when an iphone or an adriod phone is launched ,it's always immediately available...launch,launch,launch and wait

next version of android will drop win7 in the dust...
Thanks Microshaft but I'd rather invest my money in open source technology.

If it lags as bad as 6.5 on the Touch HD, then hell no!.... Even if its a faster processor, are we still going to have that speed issues??? I love my Touch HD, and want to get another, but if its going to be this slow.... perhaps android??

Look at the bigger picture, the Windows 7 OS is really picking up speed now in the corp. world. Integrating a mobile device with Windows Mobile 7 to work with Windows 7 will just be magic!!!

I was hoping that we'll be able to get the HTC HD7 over here. I suppose I'll have to get it when I go to Germany in December.

So what exactly did they launch here? This is kinda like saying "the new BMW 9 series was launched, but drivers will have to wait till end of the year for their engines" .

Did they release an SDK or something in visual studio to write apps or what? [and isn't that something you would "release" rather than "launch" ? ]

150P/M?

MS wants to penetrate our market, I think a deal has been cut, or Vodacom may turn out to be actually giving fair pricing...

SDK was released early 2010. Pieter Uys of Vodacom confirmed that Vodacom would release (and sell) WP7 phones within the next two weeks (http://twitter.com/#!/uyspj). Yet to get a final date though.

Sorry guys, grievous omission of the word "Phone" in that sentence.

Currently there's no copy/paste function on Windows Phone 7, but Microsoft's said that they are adding it and will push it in an update early next year, aiming for Jan/Feb.

Fixed the article.
