They're not terrible, but quite a bit higher than what I'm used to getting.

What's up with hop 2?

hey man, is sometimes not up to par with pings, see if they reduce overtime, and try free webafrica account to make sure its not your dslam causing the problems

i heard from a friend that telkom's adsl offering is generally better when it comes to latencies.

I fully agree. When playing COD4 internationally with Telkom my ping is high but still playable. Using Afrihost though is totally messed up. Cannot see a thing happening, only the powerpoint show of me dying - multiple times... sigh

Are you on capped or uncapped?

I'm on BTWeb (same data as Afrihost) and my pings are a good 50+ ms higher than they should be. They tend to fluctuate now and then.

I'm having the same problem on our 10Mb ADSL line, also on Afrihost capped account. The line shows that it's syncing at 8Mb but the download speed on speedtest.net for about 5 tries has an average of 0.3Mb/s
