SEACOM downtime explained (Tuesday 16 August 2011)

My Afrihost is sluggish to say the least at the moment. Just hope when they said it is fixed that , that was not a ploy for tweet spam :D
 
Um, I'm pretty sure it was giving problems from yesterday already cos I was having weird international issues on both OpenWeb and Afrihost for the last 24 hours.
 
I've also been suffering since late last night with slow and sluggish bandwidth, on both Web Africa and Afrihost connections. Not sure if it is related. I believe WebAfrica don't use SEACOM, only SAT3/WASC? Or has this changed?
 
"might have caused" isn't really an explanation in my books.

We don't use SEACOM as our primary cable, but it is there for redundancy purposes. SAT3 is the cable we make use of.
Onto your slow connection, have you logged anything with our DSL guys to have a look into?

Look anybody on this forum knows I hate Mweb... but they are one of the biggest ISPs in SA, and there are thousands of their users on this forum.
It only makes sense when discussing an outage to try and contact some of the ISPs and find out what is going on with them.
The fact that Mweb always responds says a lot about their PR department and customer service.
Deal with, or be pig headed about it... but that's life.
