I have a funny issue. I have checked most of my settings and everything is right disconect when connection is not needed is unticked. But this connection still keeps dropping and i dont know why. When i leave the computer on idle the connection will just disconect. If i keep on working on it its fine no issues just when it goes into idle any ideas ?

I have exactly the same issue. I have the impression that this is a central 8ta setting, as I only started to experience this recently.

I'm also seeing this quite a lot recently.

Can 8ta please give us some info on this?

Experiencing the same down in Cape Town Bellville area. when it disconnects, i have to restart the router

Same problem in Monte Vista, Cape Town. 8ta not replying to E-mail enquiries.

What modems are you using?

With my E1820, I've got disconnects since I've had it and just thought it was 3G (my Vodacom did the same). But, borrowed my brothers Vodafone R201 for 2 weeks and not a single disconnect.

Was magic, as my iPad connects to the wifi as I walk in and everytime I could browse instantly. With the E1820, I'd need to go reconnect every night

R201 and iPad have a battery. Modem doesn't. It suggests power problems on your USB ports or using power extension.

Oh my gosh, i thought i was the only one experiencing this new little annoyance... what on earth now!!! mine started doing this on sunday roundabout... its so frustrating because i have to re-connect every time i want to do something... frustration level 89%

Wait.

So yours doesn't either with the R201?

It has nothing to do with your modem.

What OS are you running? Windows 7 has an option that powers the device down if it has been idle for a long period of time. Just go to your network connections --> 8ta --> properties --> configure --> power management.

It doesn't disconnect using the R201 - or it does?

Mine did, until I changed the modem to the R201.
Disconnect issues vanished

This is what I wrote. I never heard disconnect problems with battery powered devices!

This is including R201

thanks for suggestion, but you dont understand, it sometimes just disconnects while busy surfing, if left for 30 seconds or so it disconnect but remains "as if connected" meaning you have to disconnect and then re-connect! but like i said, thanks for response.. this is an 8ta related problem

could an 8ta representative please look at this issue as its getting really annoying, 8ta simply disconnects itself from the internet, and before you jump to: modem issues... 8ta clearly states, bring your own modem, it worked perfectly all the way till a week ago, customer service would really be highly appreciated please 8ta, please, its annoying

I seem to be having this problem for the last month. The connection dies every 2 to 3 mins guaranteed, however reconnection sometimes takes 10 - 15 mins. The general browsing speed and download speeds seem terrible as well. Before I signed up for the 8ta contract I thought to myself 'this deal is too good to be true' now I realize that maybe it is. If this is not resolved in a month I would like to go about cancelling this contract. Disappointed 8ta client!

it does often recently, disconnect it self, both idle and busy, annoy that even i set the redial, it fail to do so, now i have to be constantly awake during night hour to download, and suffer from disconnection during my working hour where internet is need for important work.

by the way, never had this problem before, until recently
