Hi,

I just want to ask whether anyone else who connects to the Bothasig exchange (021558/559) is experiencing extreme latency spikes occurring more and more frequently. I want to confirm that it is not just my line/connection; it is becoming incredibly bad, tracert showing first hop either timing out or sitting at around 1800ms - 3800ms many times throughout the day. Anyone else in the area experiencing this?

-what is your sync speed
-what are your noise levels
-who is your ISP

post pings, tracert's and pingplotter screenshots to www.bbc.co.uk in THIS thread

cheers

I don't know if it is just me, but seems almost everyone is struggling with congested exchanges? I just got an update from Afrihost saying that my issues are related to congestion and that there is no estimated time to have it fixed...

:wtf:

not really. two of the biggest front-running exchanges have been entirely resolved. both bothasig and bellville north

edit : and Somerset West

That's their easiest and most convenient excuse. Next time you hear it, tell them to prove it.

Hi techead,

I have replied in the thread you mentioned with my stats and tracert results; please check there. Is it possible that only my DSLAM that I am connecting to could be faulty?

I'm in Bothasig (558) - have absolutely no issues what so ever. 4MB line.

It seems there was a problem in my local (in house) cabling (high open, corrosion, too many devices on the line, etc.); spent some time sorting that out and my connection seems fine again; hopefully it holds. Thanks for those that got back to me.

Regards,
