Warning! iPhone and Galaxy smartphone lockscreens may not be secure

The code- or gesture-secured lockscreen on the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy S3 can be bypassed

BB all the way

i set me galaxy s2's unlock procedure to "swipe". i reckon everyone who picks up a phone is expecting a code entry or some fancy unlock procedure.

kind of like this:

So S2 is safe?

You should be shot for saying that

SauRoNZA · Mar 7, 2013

Well the iPhone bypass only gives you very very limited access to Contacts and not much else.

Bar0n · Mar 7, 2013

I'm still skeptical of the level of security these gestures provide.

Just tried the hack on mine and doesn't seem to work.

The S3 is also safe if you don't run a Sammy rom. Apparently the Note 2 has a similar issue.

Doesn't bother me much since I don't leave my phone laying around everywhere and I don't run Sammy Roms on my devices.

satanboy · Mar 7, 2013

My phone is in my pocket at all times, unless I am at home and it is on the charger. So this doesn't bother me in the least.

KaMoS · Mar 7, 2013

I can't do it on my S3. I'm just not quick enough I guess.

RazedInBlack · Mar 7, 2013

Is the SIII mini safe?

Gonna try it now . . .

Of course! because when is a smart phone just a phone?… When it’s a Blackberry.

Shake&Bake · Mar 7, 2013

Nexus - that's where it's at

genetic · Mar 7, 2013

Such a simple flaw you can't do anything with really on the Samsung.

Park@82 · Mar 7, 2013

I don't lock my phone so...

grok · Mar 7, 2013

Maybe we're just holding it wrong? Oh wait ..

Fishzn · Mar 7, 2013

Well if budding thieves didn't know this was possible or how to do it, they sure do now! lol!

LinuxMan · Mar 7, 2013

No problems with my S3..

RazedInBlack · Mar 7, 2013

With the SIII mini I can only get to the emergency dialer and thats it.
