New DStv “Explora” decoder may be here soon

Hope it doesn't have the same sound sync problems that my current one has.

Lack of English governance? walka... explora... :erm:

What we need is not irrelevant **** to arouse the public every two or four months. But yes, this is rsa and monkey does as monkey sees.

Additionally, “if you have a fantastic Internet connection then you could have access to other content,” Alberts said.
I don't need a decoder for that, in fact thats the reason I don't have a decoder anymore.

My decoder is has a BE1 error and I'm certain Multichoice will want me to have mine swapped out (I know two people this has happened to) at a fee.

I'd rather wait for this new one to be launched then

Most probably as they do not want you to copy any PVR recorded material from the decoder onto another source.

Pointless having a decoder that's got all these features but then cripple them and top it off by loading badly written software onto it.

Blocking connectivity to the box I don't understand either. Is this the stone age?

Its completely a waste of time...

The current HDPVR's have ethernet ports and USB ports.. why not bloody enable them and allow people to use the technology properly.

Wonder what they define as a "fantastic" internet connection. Although with their crappy quality probably 1MB would be enough to stream their HD channels.

They are not physically connected to the motherboard in most cases.

I asked an ex colleague who now develops for Multichoice why the useless ports are there.
The only thing the USB port gets used for is firmware updates when you take your decoder in

I only realised the other day that it actually has two ports! Surely if they wanted to use it only for firmware updates then why not just add one port?

what model is it, if its the uec 2 tuner, you dont have to, there is a recovery method
