Openweb introduces very cheap capped ADSL accounts

Damn, this is quite good if you're not a mass downloader. There's been room for such a product for a while now in the SA market. the 200GB package is a bit expensive though and you'll likely gain greater benefit going for an uncapped solution, unless you're on a >10mbps connection.

How is their service compared to big players like Afrihost, Mweb, Webafrica....?

I've been known to email the man in charge at 11:00PM on a Sunday night and get a response within 10 minutes... Make of that what you will.

+1

So AH slashes prices and OW have "very cheap" prices. But they are the same.

Still a bit more than what I want to pay. Give me a 100GB capped account for R299 and I will sign immediately.

Bundle it and it becomes R 697-425 = R272... So it meets your budget. :)

But this was a few weeks ago already, wasn't it?
Only their 200GB package is cheaper than Afrihost's, and only by R10.

Agreed.

They have the cheapest now, because it is on par with Afrihost who also has the cheapest...

BUT... Afrihost brought those prices out 3 weeks ago. Old news.

Well done on being 3 weeks late!

Really sweet deals - R200 for 50GB is amazing

Just the line rental though..... :(

On 2mb, AH capped bundle for 100gb is R622. Currently paying R497 for a uncapped bundle. So that's R125 more a month.

So basically I'm looking for a 2MB line with 100GB data for R500. I'm sure, in November, with the speed increases I can get close to that.

I'm assuming these are month-to-month prices i.e. Rx for xGB but you have to use all those Gbs within a month? This is what's holding me back from a capped product. I'd just like to buy xGB and use it as and when I need to and when it finished then I rinse and repeat.

Yes, you should only pay the 1Mbps current fee for 2Mbps (we're just waiting for final confirmation from Telkom Wholesale on this) and then the 100GB free (currently R399). If the bundles don't change, then it could work our to R544 for line plus 100GB.

When all the pricing and upgrading is is confirmed, we'll let you know if this is going to be the case :)

^This

I've had nothing but excellent support from OpenWeb. Only reason I moved back to Afrihost was to get onto a capped package at a reasonable price. Didn't need uncapped data, and wanted the higher priority assigned to capped bandwidth.

If this had come 2 months ago, I'd still be with OpenWeb.

We do offer prepaid Capped DSL, however the pricing is different to the month to month products. We do believe that from R3.99 per GB, you can afford to let a few GB expire here and there :)

My only problem is that unused data is not rolling over. I paid for it, so why does it have to expire?

Allow a roll over of 3 months and up to a max of double your cap.
