DStv Mobile gets more channels

Been a happy subscriber since its debut. The pixelated rugby matches are a pain at times but the fact that I'm not paying for DSTV Premium helps soothe the pain.

AV out would have been nice on the Walka. Sure it would look crappy on an LCD due to the transmission quality, but on a CRT TV which outputs an interlaced signal to "improve" picture quality it would be awesome.

I wouldn't buy into this unless I could piggyback off of someone's DSTV Premium Package, since I would also want the partially substituted M-Net channel.

So, DSTV Mobile as in the Drifta's and the Walka's not the MTN and Vodacom streaming deals?

I've been using Drifta for more then a year now, a friend got it for free when he bought PVR and now thanks to him for staying up to date with his DSTV Premium.

No it's not. It's so crap it's unwatchable unless you have it in such a small window and sit 10cm from the screen!

(Tested drifted -> windows XBMC media pc -> Samsung 32" widescreen CRT via hdmi & S-video, 720p & native 576i - all suck. )

A CRT TV is 480i at best, also on a 51cm 4:3 aspect TV it will most likely be output in 16:9 letterbox. I figure that this way the output would be acceptable.

HAd one, gave it away as the quality was pathetic

Does the Drifta give a slightly better output than the Walka or vice versa?
Or are they both the same?

Wrong. Not mine: http://www.ciao.co.uk/Samsung_WS_32_Z_419_D__Review_5648332
Since I can adjust mine to whichever resolution & aspect ratio take my word for it - looks crap don't bother.

Okay, I meant the basic CRT TV's which only have RCA input.
I'm guessing that that TV of yours is a heavyweight monstrosity. ;)

Anyway, I see the output of the Walka/Drifta is only 240p, which would most likely result in a somewhat blurry output on a basic CRT TV.

ffs. the people who PAY for this don't get mnet or kyknet. when will they free up those?

i'm guessing never, because they'll want you to get a full bouquet and spend a bajillion rand every month on that than let you spend R50 and get what you "want".
