Cheapest iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c deals in SA

the long and the short of it : 5c in the same price bracket as most other manufacturer's flagship phones.

yeah and the title says Cheapest lmao, only two people would buy this rich or/and stupid .

Excuse me? R13 000 is not a lot of money for people in the middle class, let alone the rich

As an iPhone devotee, I'm disappointed at the pricing. Glad that I just got an iPhone 5 instead of holding out for a 5S.

R13 000 for a phone is a lot of money. Srsly.

R13k is ridiculous money for a phone. Yep I'd agree with rich/stupid there.

When the 5 came out there was one very good deal from CellC that they quickly backtracked on. There doesn't seem to be any equivalent now with the 5s. But I think the MTN anytime 100 for the 5c is pretty good value at R279.

You don't need to be rich for R13 000 to be a small amount of money. A large chunk of the middle class would find the amount trifling

Wait what is actually R13k here? The 5s standalone? The full contract term drawn down over 2 years? There's no way I'd ever pay that much for a handset without a contract.

The 5S standalone.
While I understand that the price would be prohibitive to a large percentage of the south african population, it is far from being priced for the "rich"

It's $650 off contract in the States. So yes I think doubling that cost for a country whose median monthly income is less than the US shelf price would be considered 'rich'.

I see the steps are R1500 per 16gb. Is memory really that expensive? I don't think so.
Def profiteering here.

Yep, 13K is insane.

Phones are replaced way too often to justify that kind of money.

$650 plus state tax. Everyone always forgets about the state tax.

Just because we are a far poorer country than the USA, doesn't suddenly mean the definitions of middle class, upper class (rich) change.
Sure, the median yearly income of someone in the middle class might be $150 000 in the USA while the median might be R1 000 000 here, the R13 000 price tag vs $720 (or whatever it is when you include tax) doesn't really make a difference to the affordability for the target market

How do you figure a R1 000 000 MEDIAN middle class income? That's 83k a month. The average South African income is around R27k.

Alright alright anyways it's a bit of a pointless topic. I get what you're saying. If you're at that level of income 13k isn't a big deal. If I earned 83k a month I'd be all about 13k for an iphone 5s.
