The Droid TV thread

Hi. Any need for a antivirus for my TV box with all these special apps?
Which one is suggested?
 
Have any of you guys been billed for Showmax? I noticed in billing history on the App, that it shows R99 for the last 3 months. Is it not supposed to be free until Feb 2018?
 
Anyone with a Mi Box 3 having audio sync issues?

Every video app is out of sync with the audio for me - Plex, DSTV Now, Netflix etc. A reboot works for a few hours and then the issue returns.

The box is plugged into my 1080p bedroom TV, no home theatre setup. Connected via wifi, Ethernet not an option right now. Signal is very good though and I don't have issues streaming on my phone from the room.

Yes. I did a little research a while back and it sounds like this happens to some of them. Apparently a factory reset might help but I'm too lazy to redo everything I have setup on mine.

Did you try and switch it off an then back on again?

Many times... My remote often conks out on me as does my network connection. The network tends to come back to life after a restart but the remote needs to be paired again. The stuttering never goes away.

Despite all this I still love this little box.
 
Quick question about the various stick devices.

Say I have a PC running plex server. What is the cheapest device one could use to link multiple TVs to the server, each TV must play a different program not just mirror the server connected TV.

Ok, I'll bite. I'd say yes.

Have used ESET, free version, for 3 years. Manual signature updates. Works very happily in the background.

Every now and then they offer special discounts on Premium version. Eventually subscribed at 50% discount (R75-ish) Dec '17. Valid for up to five Android devices as long as they are all linked to the same Google account. Next 12-month subscription at normal R149.

YMMV

Edit: Recently warned of a nasty in the Clever Dog IP cam app available from Google Play. I declined to proceed with installation.

Ok the lit box not having netflix sucks and the work around apps for netflix sucks.

I need a box that can run netflix, plex and kodi. What else is the answer other than mi box?

And if mi box is the best answer, what is the best why to get a hold of one?

MiBox firstly if you bought in the same budget line as the Lit.

If you have extra to drop then Shield most def.
