Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Slow slow internet the last 2 days. What's going on. Ironically the last 2 months I had almost no usage.:wtf:

Nope I'm in Cape Town. ADSL is still down :/
 
We are seeing a lot of users being migrated from the older BRASs/ESRs to BNGs. There seem to be some issues introduced by the migrations.

Also, this triggers deployment of IP blocks to the BNGs, in some cases without IPs having been recovered from the BRASs/ESRs. In this event you will receive a weird IP (I think at present 212.212.212.* or similar) and won't be able to go anywhere. Reset every few minutes until you get a more similar IP to what ypu usually get.

We are currently recovering IP blocks (some users may be disconnected to get an IP in a more populated block).
 
^^ranger, can this explain why i had poor gaming performance during the last 2 nights? Between 11pm - 1am. Was playing DCUO and my friend was rubberbanding all over the place :whistle: . He politely thought it was my gfx settings but his learning and quick at that :).

Going to test tonight but when i launched the game just after 10am this morning , it logged in fast and so did entering buildings.

Edit: Okay, possibly not now, i remember i tested two other iSP accounts [IS backbone & vox?] and same issue at that time. I do understand Vox accounts are having an issue with mybb so that is noted.

No, you would either not authenticate, or you would auth and not be able to go anywhere.

IP blocks were recovered by 13h00, but wholesale was only able to redeploy them at 15h05. We are recovering more, as there weren't many spare blocks.

We should have been warned earlier that our blocks were almost all deployed, but only received a notification this morning that no blocks were available, after there were already users who couldn't authenticate.

Anyway, this problem should be resolved for now (as of 15h05).

Thanks for the response :). We like reading [when it includes resolutions resolved] detailed info like this.

Will post tonight after 12am if all is okay regarding gaming. Please have someone monitor the thread :o if you not around.

Only thing is, it started off bad but then because issues can creep up and go away unexpectedly, i am not sure what we are looking at here :wtf:

:D - you have no idea how happy i am to read this but also holding out to read some more sun-tue :)

Edit: Heres some tests, at the time, performance is erratic at best. This started 2 nights ago.

First some mybb sptests and then WinMTR as recommended by ranger.

Must be. For the first time in ages, Telkom Internet has gone completely titsup here. Have had to use my free Afrihost gig to post here. I hope this isn't going to go on for the entire weekend.
