Disappearing airtime? you should unsubscribe from all WASPs

Tried the Cell C one and it says "Sorry! This code is not active on the network".

WHAT A MORON!!!

My airtime disappears and I know better than to be subscribed to these "premium content" services... FFS how stupid do they think I am?

Its the networks that themselves steal!

The article has some of the codes wrong:
Cell C: See here.
MTN: *141*5# then choose content billing

The *'s in the USSD codes got treated as markup and italicised the text instead of just showing the asterisks. The codes were tested and did work at the time of writing.

Sorry about that, I've fixed the article now.

Errors like this can be reported in this thread: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/137838-Article-Mistake-corrections which tends to draw our attention faster.

Cell C
Using the USSD string *133*1# subscribers can block all existing and future content billing.

And right here is the winning word.. "future"

Thanks for the article.

Would have expected MyBB to put these codes to the test...

tried the CellC one and it worked, just told me "There are no active subscription services on this number" but it works

I ran the MTN code now and found 2 subscriptions to VICTORIOUS TECHNOLOGIES 0123462267, AT R5.00 per day.

I never signed up knowingly for this. Need to check my bills more often. Being on contract I never really paid attention to the USSD charges, I always thought it was me.

Thanks MyBB and Jan.

Wasn't there another code for Vodacom which stopped any further subscriptions?

edit:
"STOP" to 30600

Can someone else confirm that one?

I left MTN because of this. When I contacted them about this, they blamed me.
I Know how I was subscribed to the service wrongly, and can prove it, but the call center okes have lotsa of fun f@#$%ing you around. I paid the outstanding amount for my contract and told them to go to hell.

PS: It is not visible on your bills.
When I tried to cancel my contract... I sat 2 hours on the phone unable to get hold of a call centre agent, e-mailed them. Only until I scavenged every e-mail address I could off the web and sent the mail trail of my requests for assistance, did I get a response. I was an MTN client for 12 years. They have always found a way to blame me for anything that I phone them for.

So just saying, the other providers have better options, MTN just couldnt care.

I never have airtime on any of my sim cards! I load airtime as I need it.

My mom was caught as a sucker for VAS like Top B.. Everyday the service would automatically deduct money. Poor mommy had a tantrum told her not to fuss about R100, you going to stress more sending communication back and fourth to get a refund

I was on Vodacom for years and this would have helped me greatly. For 9 years I was robbed by thieves I didn't know existed. It was small amounts so I didn't notice till it was too late. A monthly SMS saying, "by the way you are subscribed to X, Y, Z" wouldn't hurt would it?
In the end I have no idea how much I lost in total. They were stealing my money little by little. When I finally found out last year I left Voda for Cell C. Couldn't be happier! I'm sharing and bookmarking this article for future reference!

And so we will see all these Wasps die. Hope they have robbed enough people to retire comfortably.
Another reason why Vodacon and EmtyN is more hated than Telkom.

Hello Cell C, Just blocked my number for any future subscriptions and found out there is none active. Thanks TM for blocking these thieves outright.

So much more reason to support TM and Cell C

Actually cancelled a Vodacom contract or two because of this.

Lets see who got screwed over recently:

Hmm, looks like they getting a bit more hostile towards their victims.
Hello Darrenlentz.1,

In order to land on the Cellpspice page the content had to be searched for explicitly, as it is of an adult nature. Vodacom hosts the double opt in page where a confirmation step has to be accepted before we can initiate billing. this page will be presented to you after confirmation is clicked on the Cellspice page.

This is a recent subscription 04.01.2014 at 22h01.

Please get all the factual information from your service provider before claiming it was taken without authorization.

It has been cancelled on the 11.03.2014.

Regards,
Customer Care
