Blood Pressure...

Ok so the Doc has now put me on the lower 20mg Pritor.
Hopefully this is where I'll be staying put.
No more annoying headaches/weakness, etc as was the case with the stronger medication.
And most importantly my BP now seems to have stabilized nicely. I'm hitting near or at 110/80 quite consistently. Resting heart rate around 75.
So touch wood no more drastic BP spikes.

Ok, so the measuring as I get up as not a great idea then. The breakfast/shower routine gives it an hour, so I guess that'll be more accurate.

I follow the instructions that came with the machine: I sit by my desk, feet flat on the ground, upper arm next to my side, lower arm flat on the desk, bottom up.

Ok, three days you say, let me see how it changes by the weekend ...

Sorry to hear. It's not fun. I stopped using my BP meds when I started used diuretic for a while instead and my BP stabilized. I think I should be checking my BP also regularly.

I've been having a dry cough for two weeks now and my meds are about to run out so I went to a doc again.

Turns out the cough is a side effect of the high BP meds, apparently 1/3 people get it for the family of meds I was on.

Also it has only come down from 150 to 135 average.

He's no put me on Zartan 100 which is Losartan potassium 100mg.

Anyone else on this and what dosage vs BP do you take?

Eish thats a bit low there Libs. I used to have high pressure when I was 40. The doc gave me a punch on the shoulder and said that I should relax and gave me a bucket of pills.

I went for my medical least week.... one of the things that the nurse wanted to know , was I on medication..... Why? Well my blood pressure was 170/90 ..... that would explain my chest pains and the constant hangover i have every morning when I wake up...

Friend in the LAB gave me the rundown on my tests..... before Doctor Doppies did..... Doppie slooked at my Blood pressure result and wanted to know if the nurse had used the electronic machine or the old fashioned one..... well it was the electronic one, "*** dit! " , he stammered back to me..... "That modern kark does'nt work, go back tomorrow and tell her to do it the old way....." next morning I go back, 140/90 ..... End of the day, I had to cut back on my salt and eat more fruit, especially piesangs..... three days later, my headaches are gone and so have the chest pains..... that blerrie salt, who would have thought, Oh! and I had to ditch the coffee....

Amazing what pills, destressing and a healthy lifestyle can do.

Was 160 three weeks ago. Stressed and not living healthy and just switched to new meds (Lisinopril gave me side effects).

:)

Awesome!

Now the challenge is to keep it up. :)
All too easy to regress to previous habits.

I'm on a four month mission to lose 20 kg. It will get done.

Hoping I can drop the meds then.
