Beginners Guide 1: Flashing Official Samsung Firmware

Yep running it on my old Sammy trend works well I just didn't load all the google crap.

What firmware regions are generally user friendly in SA?

I tried rooting my daughters A5 2016, without her knowledge or permission and despite following what I though was the correct procedure I'm sitting with a 'recovery is not seandroid enforcing' error and phone won't reboot!!

I've broken something and it looks like flashing stock firmware is the only way back from here!! Help!! I'm in BIG s hit with her!!! :(:o

The guide on page one saved my bacon again. I'm really doing my best to try and break my daughters A5... Might just succeed one of these days...

@faniebraai, thanks for the guide, worked flawlessly.

Used the Samsung Smart Switch PC software to backup everything on the phone.
Flashed with Nougat with OTA option.
Restored phone using Smart Switch backup.
All working great and all data is there.

@sand_man, welcome fellow ex-iPhone owner. S7 working great. Even better with Nougat on now. Very smooth looking.

Glad you having fun. :crylaugh: S7's a gorgeous device!! The screen is top notch and the camera too. Magnificent!!!

The levels of freedom to tinker is mind boggling for iOS users. The thought of applying a custom font, or changing an icon, or adding a widget, without having to jump through countless hoops, it's liberating!! Okay I had a bit of an episode rooting the A5 but the Oneplus 3T was a piece of cake.

Absolutely loving this phone so far!! It's a performance beast and it's every bit as good as the 6s it's replacing. Better in many regards. In fact in every regard except one!! Fluidity. As competent and complete a performer as it is, Androids still not nailed down the fluidity of iOS. It's so desperately close but just not quite yet!!

Manual Update Message

Hi
I updated my S7E to Nougat. I tried option 2.
Everything works great but when I went to Download updates manually:
I get the following message:

"The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorised way. Try downloading software updates using Smart Switch on your PC or visit a customer service center."

I was under impression Option 2 would allow for OTA updates..
Any workaround?

OPTION 2:
- Load all 4 the files
- Advantages: You'll get OTA updates. Disadvantage: You phone will be factory reset.
I used the following:
Odin3-v3.11.1
Firmware: G935FXXU1DQB3_G935FOXA1DQB1_BTU

It looked like this:

http://picpaste.com/setup.JPG

In the firmware i had a file - HOME_CSC_OXA_G935FOXA1DQB1_CL10422490_QB12282428_REV00_user_low_ship.tar
I did not load this file in ODIN

And which files did you load in which slots in odin?

Have you tried to redo it? Have you been, or are you rooted?

Never rooted.

In download mode i get the following:

ODIN MODE
DOWNLOAD SPEED: fast
PRODUCT NAME: SM-G935F
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
SYSTEM STATUS: CUSTOM
FAP LOCK: ON

SECURE DOWNLOAD: ENABLED
WARRANTY VOID: 0 (0X000)
RP SWREV: B1 K:0 S:0

BL_G935FXXU1DQB3_CL10422490_QB12410567_REV00_user_low_ship.tar = BL Slot
AP_G935FXXU1DQB3_CL10422490_QB12410567_REV00_user_low_ship_meta.tar = AP slot
CP_G935FXXU1DQB1_CL10422490_QB12282428_REV00_user_low_ship.tar = CP slot
CSC_OXA_G935FOXA1DQB1_CL10422490_QB12282428_REV00_user_low_ship.tar = CSC slot

Firmware came with those four files as well as the file
HOME_CSC_OXA_G935FOXA1DQB1_CL10422490_QB12282428_REV00_user_low_ship.tar
This file i did not assign to any ODIN "slot"

I have not tried to re-do it.
was wondering maybe there is a different firmware I need etc.
