Fighter jet over Fourways/JHB north

Normal in Cape Town. At least for helicopters. Damn military choppers fly so low that my balcony door rattles!

It's the Saab JAS 39 Gripen. Was flying around Waterkloof AFB earlier today as well and I could see it from my office window.

Saw the delta wing and canards clearly.

Knew it was a Gripen from just the engine noise, a Cheetah sounds way different (and has a different outline).

From fourwaysreview.co.za...
Senior Correspondent at African Defence Review Darren Olivier has since informed Fourways Review that the Gripen was flying for an official South African Air Force (SAAF) event. “It was at a safe altitude and flying a carefully-planned sequence,” said Olivier in a tweet.

So is a cheetah and a griphon the same aircraft?

It was the Gripen's, I live close to Waterkloof AFB and they have been up and down the entire afternoon, I figured there's probably some parade or show soon and they are practicing fly overs.
