Hi,

A few weeks ago, I bought the Asus GL553VD Notebook from Incredible Connection. After installing the update, my laptop cannot get past the login screen without the blue screen of death appearing. I tried to go into safe mode - this also results in the blue screen of death. The error associated with this is DRIVER_STATE_POWER_FAILURE

Does anyone know how to deal with this?? I am downloading a fresh Windows 10 ISO so I can reinstall Windows :(

What s$*t they are selling?
They will be blaming Windows, they will be right in 99% cases.
However as laptop is brand new, follow advice from Microsoft ;) ;) ;)

At this point, because the cause of the issue is not obvious and the computer is brand new, I would suggest to contact HP support on the issue.
Just replace HP with yours.

If you want to investigate yourself, you need to follow crash dump procedure. Typically such error is linked to the hardware failure, device driver crash or very recently interraction with antivirus software. Currently Microsoft is fighting with third-party antivirus software. There are vulnerabilities in older MS antivirus API and Microsoft is afraid, it can lead to uncovering Bitcoin mining on user computers, so is changing these things in hurrry with disregard to the millions of users.

Take it back, it's so new, before you do so if you haven't done it yet first reset the computer to factory(using the recovery partition/prompt) and then let windows do all updates and if it's still giving the error then take it back. Because that's exactly what they will do except they will have your laptop two weeks and you'll have to traipse there and back.

"Driver Power State Failure" is an error that is displayed in Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). This error is mostly displayed due to incompatible or inappropriate driver for any hardware device that a computer system may have.

You could just format and reinstall 1703.

For some odd reason, Nvidia's latest graphics driver (388.13) causes the crash on my laptop. I did a fresh installation of Windows 10 with the creators update. Installed all needed drivers and software, everything went fine. When it was time to update graphics driver, the crash occurred. It was a pain fixing this - had to go into safe mode and uninstall the graphics driver.

I never install the latest nvidia driver, I install about 2 versions behind.

I also have this issue.

My laptop is 4 years old now, and I have a 640GT.

I think I will be joining you. This notebook seems to play nice with the ASUS Nvidia graphics driver only (newer versions from nvidia's website cause the crash). Not sure how fast Asus is at delivering driver updates for their products, so I will be rocking v382.53 for a while...

Really slowly, v382.53 was released in June by nVidia.

Instead of downloading the drivers from asus or nvidia have you tried letting windows install the WHQL certified drivers via windows update?

You should sign up on the forum and make a comment about your experience with the new driver (devs do respond rather quickly) but reading the comments it sounds like the latest one is a big lemon.
