HTC Diamond - Very Irritated!

So I have had my Diamond for just over a week, and the camera just doesn't work.....I though it would be fixed with the latest ROM upgrade, but no luck...When I fire up the camera, I get the Photo logo and then just a blank screen. If I do a soft reset the camera works once and if I exit and try go back in nothing, blank screen. If I push the capture button on this black screen I eventually get the error "Unable to capture photo. Unable to get frame data from camera device"

I am seriously irritated as this phone is only a week old! :mad: Any advice? Any experience the same thing?
 
That's grim, Grims. The snapper on my TD works perfectly. Have just tried photo, video, panorama, mms shot -- all work great. Exited cam and then started it again, without a hitch.
Could it be some app/tweak that's interfering?

I am not sure if it could be an app, the only things I have installed so far is Skype, Leaf Navigator and Gsen (allows you to rotate your screen in texting etc).

Other than that I dont know what it could be, I did the ROM upgrade, so I dont think a hard reboot would help. This was happening before and after the upgrade.

Think I need to get hold of Mtn and blast them.

What you really need to do is go and search the XDA Developers forum..........

No advise can you please tell me if you can install skype on your phone becauce I battle to install on mine
 
I'm wondering whether it isn't a hardware issue, instead of a software one.

Cooked ROM? HELL NO! :D I personally wouldn’t touch a cooked ROM, really not worth it IMO.

It was the official 1.93 ROM from HTC. Besides the fact that the camera was not working before the ROM update, was actually hoping the update would have fixed it but to no avail.
 
mmmm... That's a bit of a lemon.... Best you take it straight back to Leaf. Apparently there is a good chance that they'll replace the phone immediately, with a new one... but don't quote me...

Yeah it really does suck, but I still have faith in the Diamond, I think I just got unlucky.....I can't unfortunately take it back to Leaf directly, I have to take it to Mtn and they will forward it on to Leaf, otherwise it voids my warranty with Mtn. I do think they will replace it with a new one, o well as long as it works its all good. ;)

The forums are full of dud iPhones... here's just one example.

My first white one had a bad battery so I swapped and got a piece of junk with a misaligned case, bezel chips, black spot and stuck pixels..unreal. It's going back as well..worst apple product I've ever seen.

Picked up my 2nd black 8gb iphone this morning (exchanged first one). It came with the updated firmware. Small amount of light leak on the left side still but no where near as bad as my first phone.

Will try to return it when the build quality goes up. Right now it's hit and miss.

It looks like I am going to have to exchange mine again! This will be my third iPhone. I have 5 dead pixels and a battery that last about 3:30 hours. This is the first time I have bad luck with apple products. My girlfriend is on her third iphone too!

With my luck, do you think I should wait another week to return the phone till they get a better "batch" withouth the defects?

Your problem aside, what is the rest of the phone like?
 
Ok phone is back with Mtn and will be sent to Leaf - I really hope they replace the dam thing because I hate getting back repaired goods, especially after only having it for 2 weeks.

I think I should do a HTC Diamond VS iPhone thread. To gets people's gut feel... (I know the iPhone hasnt arrived here yet, kinda). But opinions as to which one you would have, if you had a choice between the two. But I dont want the hard-core'ees on either side to get angry in the thread :p

This topic has been discussed in depth all around the forum....Bottom line is personal taste. There is actually no point even trying to argue which phone is better, people fight. ;)

Yea true.. But I'm undecided. I want people to make my mind up for me :D
