Yeah can't wait to try it out. Offline web apps could prove to be the decider. Also, all it would need to grab some browser share would be some cool new webapps. Imagine what they could do with youtube.

But time will tell. I love opera.

Did they not learn from Netscape. Sandboxing comes with a very high performance penalty. Nothing new here. This will tank.

very interesting but when is the googlephone launching?

It's launching today the 2nd. America is behind us... so probably in a couple of hours...

To add to the Vista penalty... surely it can't be worse than Vista lol

My question is: where does this browser fit it? Is it niche, but completely compliant like Opera (which is a problem because we spend most of our development time making it uncompliant, especially for IE); or is it just going to be a niche IE that works in its own "special" way and attracts little attention. Its difficult to find a balance, something FF has done fairly well (though I still have my issues with the guts of the FF search engine).

The main focus of this browser seems to be be getting web apps to run faster. By allowing JavaScript to be multi-threaded etc...

IMHO that puts it in the niche market of nice to have but bloody difficult to get to work. I don't want to have to sit smashing my head against the wall because it won't do what I want using standard methods!

It is fully standards compliant as it uses Webkit as its engine. The inclusion of Gears is interesting.

Hopefully it can take a bit more market share away from IE. I guess that is Google's plan - to leverage their brand to get further market share from Microsoft.
