Free Calls for Cell C Customers

"Cell C says that their prepaid customers need to only recharge during the course of the week with any of the company’s airtime recharge vouchers to get the free weekend calls."

- would one have to do this every week to be eligible to make free calls to Cell C people on weekends - assuming prepaid?

...just get through those pesky 100 free minutes first....

someone should shoot the spokesperson for speaking like that

business babble 101W said:
“This kind of offer is inherent to our value proposition and our corporate strategy of offering our customers value for money and easily accessible products at affordable prices. This innovation in basic voice and data is in response to our customers needs,” says Zeona Motshabi, Chief Corporate Officer at Cell C.

what a crock of shirt.....

As good as this is for CellC customers [excluding inevitable network congestion over weekends], it sounds to me like CellC is seriously desperate to gain market share - and so CellC should be - CellC really does have to do something 'drastic' like this to gain market share, but I suspect this hasn't been all that well thought through by CellC and it will have some consequences that CellC has not yet foreseen - in a month or two I expect some call length 'restrictions' to be imposed to prevent people from spending their entire weekend on the phone - the only thing preventing this is the need to recharge during the week...

Hi guys,

I just contacted the cellc Callcentre, they advised everybody will only get 120 free minutes. Can somebody from CellC clarify here?

Kevin

I think they stupid!! I would have made it 10c a minute, same thing right?

this could be useful for ppl to keep in touch - also the other operators will want to do something... so...

I think Free is better...sounds far better for marketing purposes as well.

True, maybe the other networks could go for the 10c per minute thing, it could still retain their customers.

I wonder if it would effect Vodas customers with the amount of new traffic on the towers, CellC still uses Vodas towers...

"From this weekend, all Cell C subscribers including prepaid users will be able to call for free provided they recharge during the week which is as low as R5." Also from CellC...

"Post-paid customers can also talk for free once they have used up all their free minutes...."

How unfair and unjust is that....!!!!

Utterly useless if you have a contract / talk minutes which you try to make last the month!

You have to use them all up before you get free minutes!
(or have i missunderstood something ?)

Won't this have a Direct impact on VM customers too? The GPRS users of both VM and CellC I mean, as voice has priority over data, thus with more Voice traffic on the Cellc towers the data users on those towers will be left high and dry. Connected, but no data coming through. :(

Ivork, that’s how I also understand it. Free Minutes must first be depleted before you can call for free this weekend. I know I'll be making a few unnecessary calls in the next few off-peak hours so I can call for free by next weekend maybe. ;)

Pretty screwed if there are moochas week days left tho.
Not spending my 200 anytime free mins so fast - they must last the whole month!

Better to buy a 5 buck prepaid card for long weekend calls in that case!

why state 'Free' when only 120 minutes are free.... :( is the 120 Minutes free per weekend or per month?
