Uncapped local ADSL bandwidth kicks in

So is it only those who are with TelkomInternet that will experience this "uncapped" local?

The performance of the local ADSL service after being capped looks the same as an uncapped account.
That's good news.:)

How does this affect SAIX local bandwidth resellers? Isn't there something "off" with them selling bandwidth to reseller, yet at the same time giving it away to their customers for free?

No. This is not the deal. The deal is that ISP's must not charge us international prices for local bandwidth.
SAIX has now given them the tool to measure local throughput, so that we can be charged appropriately.

This article is just enforcing more confusion, and with no actual word from Teklom Internet, it's just speculation.

So if i have a 1Gb telkomsa account, and i do no international traffic, only local - will i still be capped?

rpm/anyone, how would we know whether Telkom is charging or not?

Based on the article and normal business practice Telkom will only start charging for local once they inform customers of the changes after the testing is complete

“Specific changes to Telkom Internet's subscribers’ contracts, as well as any new packages, will be communicated once testing is successfully completed,” said Letlape

Does not seem like it. Telkom does still however have the terms & conditions which allow them to disconnect customers from the network who "abuse" the service which would include downloading of "illegal" content.

Wondering for how long local will be free.

Because ive done 213Gb on my 1GB account

Question: If local is "free" for now or not measured, will it still be at full line speed or will that be reduced? Also, what about those of us who have bought local SAIX and IS b/w: Are those ISP's "looking the other way"?

Currently like a said in my previous post, ive done lots of downloading, and still getting max speeds on my saix account

As far as the tactics that Telkom want to inforce, that is a telkom issue, I have been informed by IS that they are not going to be doing the same as Telkom. So, for those who are slightly worried about getting billed for going over, I would not worry. It is your gain.

How long will Lulu remain Telkom's spokesperson?

I hope they don't charge an arm and leg for local uncapped, but we will have to wait and see.

And it will be cool if Axxess prepaid will be able to make use of free local once capped :)

we shouldn't have to pay for local internet. the other thing i don't understand, is why we need to use up our international before we can use the local. why can't this local and international be together, with the local still being uncapped?
