Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

Best MyBB ISP Afrihost,

1) Looking to upgrade my Afrihost/Axxess FTTH fibre by VUMA to symmetrical 1000Mbps/1000Mbps but is unavailable?

2) The odd-one-out package is the 1000/250Mbps asymmetrical line with 1:4 DL/UL ratio. All the others have at least 1:2 ratios.

This is reminiscence of the 2000's ADSL heydays and first fibre lines with ratios of 1:20. Theres plenty of research that shows a minimum of 1:2 best for TCP/IP performance. Otherwise, the limited slow upload speed "chokes" the much faster download bandwidth.

Complain to the FNO, Afrihost unfortunately doesn't decide which speeds the FNO provides

Issues with Fibre in Monument Park, Pretoria. ESP users say issue with Openserve?

Are there any issues at the moment? Currently both discord and notion will not log in. Multiple devices but it works fine when I switch to a different network.

No issues on Vumatel.
Was it working fine before?

Are you able to ping discord.com?
You wont believe me but it spontaneously came right.
Last night and this morning I could reach notion and discord home page but it would get stuck on login. Fixed now.
Thanks :)

Hi all,

Apologies for the Vumatel Cape Town outage last night. The issue has been resolved, and services have been restored.

If you're still experiencing any issues, please send me a DM with your account details, and I'll look into it.

Good day @Afrigirl

I've been having random ping spikes for the last few days. A reboot of all devices does not resolve anything. When I do a trace to Googles DNS I can see the spikes start after hitting Afrihost routing.

Hi.

It must be due to the CPT<>JHB NLD being down. Please note that it has been logged with our upstream provider, and repairs have been scheduled.

does anybody know if below statement is 100% true (openserve line) (received this from afrihost support)?

Good evening ****

I trust this mail finds you well.
My apologies for any inconvenience caused

Please note that our fibre services are provisioned behind Carrier-Grade NAT (CGNAT), and we are currently unable to provide a public IPv4 address or remove CGNAT on this service.

As a result, hosting services that require direct inbound access from the internet, such as a home server, will not be possible using a standard fibre connection.
Do not hesitate to contact us If you ever need any assistance
Have a great day ahead.
Kind regards
