With Telkom anything is possible including turning an upgraded 8 meg line into a 1 meg line when you had a 4 meg line beforehand.

Your lines connect to different units/dslams/whatever in the exchange and/or they're switching the lines over in batches over the next few days?

@RPM, do you perhaps have any information what is happening with the yeoville exchange, its brand new and they havent upgraded any of the 4mbps lines yet, some info would be greatly appreciated as the telkom operators reckon no upgrades have taken place anywhere ion the country.

Hi SlaaiBak, my modem syncs at 4096kbps but there was a period some months ago where over a week or two it wouldn't sync at anything higher than 1024kbps. Then it magically came right again and I'm pretty sure our house didn't move. If I remember correctly the closest exchange to our house is around 1KM over the N1/Brackenfell blvd bridge (close to the large Pick&Pay in Brackenfell), which makes it around 2.0 - 2.5 km from my home.

PS: I have noticed that my internet is crawling today, not sure whether it is Afrihost or Telkom, my line currently still syncs at 4096kbps.
