10 settings in Windows 10 you should disable

I suggest you create a restore point before you fiddle with these settings.
I suggest just staying with whatever you were using before w10. It's clear MS is still trying to make an OS for both mobile and desktop but not succeeding on either.

This. This is the simple reason why people are rejecting Windows 10... because they don't trust it.... and now they don't trust Microsoft much either.

File Sharing Updates - I'm pretty sure Microsoft are not the first to do this, at least they give you the option of turning it off though.

WiFi Sense has been disabled for a while now as far as I'm aware, and its completely gone in the Anniversary Update

Annoying Notifications, this is something you have to do in Android and iOS as well really so not a evil Microsoft only issue.

Start Menu Ads, this is pretty valid.. its annoying but hardly in your face, and right clicking on it gives the option to turn off suggestions so its not really like they are hiding the ability to turn it off

Targeted Ads by third parties, also very valid but I can't say I've seen too many of them, if any in my normal usage of Windows so far...

Speech, typing and inking data.. I think Microsoft are hardly the first to do this either, and yes you can turn it off but then you lose access to features like Cortana which is actually pretty bloody good.

The Lock Screen, really not sure why this is a "should disable" item actually. Its totally down to personal preference

Setting Sync, again Microsoft are not the first to do this at all, and turning it off does take away one of the great features of having a single Microsoft account in terms of uniformity across devices.

OneDrive, personal preference again. I'm quite happy that its automatically syncing stuff to my OneDrive folder for me really... gives me access to my documents etc no matter where I am and what device I'm on..

Visual Effects, again why is this a "should disable".. are people still running machines that aren't capable of doing basic graphics interface stuff? Even the most basic on board graphics chip should be quite capable of doing the hardware acceleration that Windows does these days, and it should have minimal impact on the CPU itself.

Your points are spot on , i am not sure why people hate upgrading there windows , upgrading means fixing bugs and issues in the previous version , is that right or not ?

No.

Updating means fixing bugs and issues in the previous version.

Upgrading means new features and new bugs and issues.

It was like that in the first official pre-beta relase, perhaps you didn't try it for a while.

In the second official pre-beta release (11/2015) Microsoft decided to make it more difficult. Now turning off live titles require going deeper in the menu and many more mouse clicks. Any other comments are irrelevant when any version update destroy your current configuration and start menu items disappear over the time for no reason.

Run powershell as admin, then do the following - it kills everything tagged "online", including the metro calculator....

Code:
Get-AppXProvisionedPackage -online | Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage -online
Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage

Umm how about the fact that I'm running the official patched up version of Windows 10 and I disabled the ads in the start menu via a right click on the ad last night.

Turning off Live Tiles is a different issue altogether.

Half of these settings are sort of the point of windows 10.

You might as well uninstall and go back to Windows 10 without them.

I like wifi sense. It would have been pretty cool if all devices/OSes supported that.
If my friends are at my place, I want them to just use my wifi. Same when I'm at their place.

Not going to happen. They tried to follow Apple proprietary style (otherwise they would publish API), but they ran into hell of problems. In other words it won't be back for a while.

A pointless comment for anyone who wants to use WIN 10, and can't go back.
Secondly, the tips in this thread DO ensure a less intrusive setup on WIN 10 and are therefore valid for consideration.

There is one that is missing, which actually sorts out quite a few issues, and that is DO NOT sign in with a MS account, use a local Account only. Only sign in with an MS account when really required and do this by creating a separate account on your machine.

As to allowing your friends to do as they like when they are at your place? Forget it. They will be allowed to only do what I allow, no OS or any other system is going to tell me how visitors use my stuff, ever.

Actually very important comment was made by Swa. Those who want to upgrade to Windows 10, will have to consider whether Microsoft model is workable, successful or is going to be another Microsoft's flop on the mobile market. Desktop user is under stress with desktop unfriendly big fat finger interface and inconsistent menu system, a hundred options needed to be disabled. A lot has to be done to make windows 10 workable, out of the box is useless. When new update comes it will reset everything to Microsoft's defaults. And I didn't even mention about thousands bugs.

Desktop users will eventually start looking for alternatives. They can't continue to use Windows 7 with automatic updates as they receive 'Telemetry' spyware and nagware. In the end result Windows 10 is not servicable, similar to XP.

So the comment in question is 100% appropriate, people will have to consider: go for it and suffer from constant harrassments, learn how to disable things which Microsoft intentionally made it difficult or wait and see what happen.
