Yes, it's stored on the IS news servers.
The newsgroup servers are basically mirrors - when the content is added to Usenet is gets replicated through all the newsservers.
However a lot of newsserver owners decide to have a short retention (saix) or not carry most of the groups (saix) or not carry the binary news groups at all.

Thanx alot Killadoob and Paul_S for verifying it for me..man that is certainly awesome news, now i really cant wait to get ADSL, and for the record...openweb will definetely gain a new customer..

Just one last thing, about online gaming on the sgs servers, how is IS pings compared to SAIX pings ? I have read here that IS is slower for intl than SAIX, which doesnt bother too much but how much slower ?

And with latency regarding the sgs servers is a IS connection extremely lower or is about the same as with a SAIX connection ?

I will be getting just the standard 384k connection for the time being...

i just changed my account for a 30gig local account from openweb! and a separate 2gig int account........way better this way i can download stuff from day 1!
 
ive heard IS international is very dodgy hey


but their local is on par with saix

my ping on the bf 2 server is little higher

saix: it was around 18-24
Is: 20-30

not a big difference

my advice is you get a openweb local and saix international

use routesentry to route your local vs your int and your on track for plenty porno :)
 
hehe lol.......but i want to use my router i dont want to put it in bridged mode....and if its not in bridged mode then id rather have 2 IS accounts than different accounts cos otherwise i have to change my smtp settings everytime i change account to send emails.........:(

at teh moment im hoping this: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=52541&page=3&highlight=fausto will eventually work for netgear routers....

i can always change my accounts if im not happy

just setup up a dummy email and select it when u send an email

no routesentry route your bandwidth so local will be local international will be international

doesnt work like you think

i use IS's smtp just fine

what do you want to use your router for?
other than splitting to accounts :)

if you put your router in bridged mode can you still use eg wireless lan etc?

edit: another reason i took the IS account is that i can use another 28gig of local after i use the int cap so i can go wild on the last few days :p

il only be finishing the 2gig int on like the last 3 days then after that for the last few days of the month i just wont go to int sites......... if i really need to il use dial up.........
 
wow so you waste a kuk load of bandwidth :)

that's a bit senseless to pay R60-R95 dial up access each month just to get int isn't it? Why not buy a webafrica 1GB prepaid account? It's R70 per GB ;)
 
@teraside: my sister has a dial up account in joburg........i use it sometimes when adsl is down etc.........hehe yeah it would be a bit senseless to pay for dial up without using it..........

the imagine was just a special that ended, it's now R85, so Openweb Rules

Can you take the R10 for a month only, just want to try it. I most probably will use it every month, but for now, just want to try it out.
 
I got my Local account, with openweb. I disconnected my webafrica account, but I am still able to surf intl. sites. I have routesentry installed, but just disconnected it. I checked Mywapip and it's the openweb ip address (is). Do you have to enter the dns settings that they giv or can u leave it on automatic.
