Am new to IS.

1. What are the names for these two news servers?
2. And are these news server worth anything? Have never been able to get complete packets on SAIX. Like I said I don't know IS's services.

Hi Daniedj,

I sent you a private message explaining exactly how to use the service. I don't really discuss this sort of thing in public anymore due to the degradation that we experienced during July and August. Let me know if you're having any trouble ;)
 
Why is it that at the beginning of the month I was able to open international Websites and now international is slow like hell. Which I can understand because it's a local only account. But the surely international should've been slow in the beginning as well?

You got lucky if you could access international on a local only account.

Sssshhhhh

The First Gb of use includes international. Once you use up the first Gig (and local traffic counts as well) then IS throttles the international connection to unuseable.

I'm assuming Openweb doesn't like marketing this because of the potential for abuse and that local access also counts.
 
This is infact not true.

If you get international on your local only accounts, you are very lucky.

I however find it disturbing receiving calls from some folks demanding we give them 'back' the international access on our local only accounts.

There is a reason why we have local only and normal accounts. Please buy the account that would suit your needs.

I was also able to get international on my local only account. I'm supposed to be able to surf international only with openbrowse proxy, but I can surf it without the proxy being used. I really don't care, cause I have a telkom account for international. I just use openweb for local anyways. Still it was cool to be able to use google and such.

I'm thinking you could be confusing the r79 10 local only with the r99 1gb international account that comes with up to 10gb local.
 
And me too, i was able to access international on my local only account for the first three days at 40KB speeds. Took advantage of the situation though ;)

Think we were just lucky....
 
yeah looks like IS allowed int access for a few days, happened to me too.....dont think it was uage based though, like it wasnt that we got 1gig international, it was by luck
 
Its cuz the accounts are based on the 1gig intl and 10gig local...

Thats what MRBEEP SAID!! :P
 
How can I use my local 27 gigs to d/l stuff from international? I know about proxy servers but do not know where to get them in ZA. Send me a private mail with some proxies pleeeeeze.
 
Uhmm, I dont think it's possible to use your local cap to download stuff from INTL servers, then no-one would buy INTL accounts in the first place...

If you buy a local only account from OpenWeb that includes OpenBrowse, you'll be able to browse INTL sites @ 192kbps or 384kbps, but not download anything.

This is specific to the OpenWeb OpenBrowse account though...
 
The way I understand your browser sends a request to a proxy and the proxy gets the info/items for you. So you are not really connecting to the remote website. You are just sending the request to the proxy and the proxy gives you what you want.
