thinking of getting a 10mbps account but I'm not sure which isp to take, so far the only ones that seem promising are:

Openweb - After Hours Uncapped Platinum @ R1299
Webafrica - 10mbps home uncapped package @ R1699
Mweb - standard 10mbps uncapped @ R1999

Does anyone have one of these accounts? If so are you pleased with it's performance and would you reckon streaming 720p content from something like netflix would work (apparently they suggest at least a 5mbps conn to stream 720p content)?

Why not get after hours uncapped gold for R900? It will get your full line speed after hours.

Except that duriing the day you'll almost definitely want a small capped account.

Telkoms 10Mbps uncapped for R2000 is unshaped and not throttled, so it is by far the superior offer at the moment.

If this is accurate, and its within your price range, then definitely the best option

These unccapped packages.. Are they not shaped some how during the day? Or are they unshaped as well?

I use the Openweb after hours uncapped account @ R899. It's superb!!! Got a 50gb Afrihost Gold unshaped account for off peak @ R475 per month...

I see now Openweb has a 10meg Gold account. That's the one I'd go for.

I'm an Openweb 10mbps after hours user and I seldom get less than 1MB/sec on multi-connection downloads. Not sure about a single Netflix stream; never tried that. In general though, highly recommended.

As mentioned already, you will definitely need an alternate, capped account for daytime use.

There is a 10meg Gold account now:

Bit pricey though.

Although I was probably paying close to that for iBurst back in the day.

Dude. It's uncapped 10meg. I don't think it's pricey at all. Maybe still unaffordable though ;)

I got this 10mb after hours account. It's uncapped and unshaped.

I get 950k/sec using fdm downloads and news servers. It flies.

In reference to your question on streaming, 720p will not be an issue at all... If I recall correctly I was able to stream 1080p from YouTube without buffering

I often watch hon live feeds in hd as well as diablo 3 beta feeds, also in hd

You should be able to stream 1080p stuff with a 4Mbit line, I don't have any issues with mine.
