2007/2008 WI tour to SA thread

Yeah he did, it's a pity he didn't convert that innings into a 50 or 100. Anyway, I hope we pomp the Windies this Friday.

BTW I take it Gayle is still out for the Windies?

I heard that Gayle should be back for the 2nd ODI.

Well, he his test average for 07 was 26, and he did manage to score 27. which is more than his average.

:D

They should give him a longer break, so that he can play a few first class matches and give someone else a run in the team.

An average of 26 isn't good enough for an opening batsmen in international cricket. :(

True, but Gibbs is an awesome talent. Like Boycott said in comms in the test, "If I had his talent and my brains, I would have scored a lot more runs".

I think Gibbs gets picked and stays in the team more on possibilities than actual performance, unfortunately.

I'm not too sure how Gibbs suddenly is in form after being left out of a test match, not playing any other first class cricket and scoring 20 odd in the following test. :)
Actually his one day form over the last 2 years has been significantly better than his test form, he is averaging over 40 in one day cricket since oct 2005...

yip, this is true.

47 matches, 1560 runs, highest score 175, 4 centuries, average 41.05

Let's hope his test form doesn't effect his ODI form this year. :)

If it dries up will we be able to catch the game on SABC? OR are the SABC gonna do their normal crap and broadcast it once the game is over?

They start at 7:30.
Doubt there would be a game..... The field will be very wet.

The whole of Gauteng had rain, I don't think it was heavy rain though. Anyway, they better get those super soppers out and see if they can get the outfield playable.
