2011 Super Rugby (Super 15) thread

The currie cup is something for the 2nd tier teams to play for, like the sharks and cheetahs.

WeePee and the Bulls have won it so many times that we really don't give a crap about it anymore.
Most of our players go play overseas when the currie cup is on to keep themselves busy.

Keep telling yourself that.

Western Province 32
Northern Transvaal/Blue Bulls 23
Transvaal/Gauteng Lions/Golden Lions 9
Natal Sharks 6 :erm::p:D
Orange Free State/Free State Cheetahs 4
Griqualand West/Griquas 3
Border/Border Bulldogs 2

I don't have to tell myself.
Sharks have some catching up to do, don't they now? :D

Far be it for me to jump into this Sharks/Stormers clash that is busy going down - I really have no place in it, tbh - but I read about the Reds prop being cited and some comments on sport24 indicate that Bekker was involved in some dangerous play on Saturday that should be cited but because the Commish is a WP die-hard, this won't happen. What exactly happened to make people believe this? Who saw the incident and was it bad?

So history makes you happy about your present trophyless team hey :p

It could be the incident when Bekker wrapped his arm around the scrumhalf's neck and carried him back (off his feet) a few metres in a tackle.

From the description others give, that is the incident. So not as severe then as some would have us believe? I'd also like to check it out - gotta find a friend who PVRed it...

Yes, I also see that some are moaning about that. At the time I remember thinking "don't do anything stupid now that you have your arm around his neck", but it was nothing in the end IIRC. I just deleted it from my PVR a few mins ago, otherwise I would've had another look. It's nothing like what Bakkies did to Duvenage and his case was dismissed almost immediately. If they want to cite that, then they need to look at Bismarck going in with the head on Vermeulen, which started a bit of a scuffle which lasted for most of the game.

But having said that, I don't think there is a need to cite anything (that I saw).

So, James Slipper from the Reds got cited for his tip tackle on Bandise Maku. Also got a yellow card for it during the game.

He appeared before a hearing today but the charges were dismissed competely.

Strange because James Kamana from the Lions got suspended for 3 weeks for a similar offence whe he tipped Robert Ebersohn in a tackle.

It's pathetic man, utterly pathetic.

On the other hand the Bulls won't change their gameplan so they can eat it.
