I cannot get over the fact of the budget infotainment console. Would rather get a mazda cx5 or Nissan qashqai
 
Managed to find one with the 8inch touchscreen digital dash and pounced on it. Met the SOs requirements (digital dash, sunroof, auto) and hers was starting to give issues. Picked up yesterday. Lovely drive that car is. Only a few kms done so far but its looking to be a great buy (managed to get approx 60k off list price)
 
I have the 2005 Tucson. Still an epic car. It aged so well. I have upgraded the infotainment system, and it seems to be far more advanced than the one in the standard new Tucson.

Surely Korean manufacturers should be at the cutting edge of infotainment systems with Samsung / LG and a few others being in their back yard.
 
I will try my best & not add more 2c about the MY2016 Tucson infotainment system.

I've made many many (many) postings about it in this thread already

One would think...also looking at how Android Auto + Apple Carplay have partnered with *Hyundai*...had actually put off getting one because of the infotainment system. Was a pure stroke of luck that we found one. Cursory search on Autotrader shows only one other that has this function out of about 40 "new" Tuscons
 
The CEO of Hyundai Motor America has revealed that the Korean automaker plans to launch a production version of the Santa Cruz bakkie concept in 2018.

Dave Zuchowski confirmed to Motor Trend that the ball was indeed rolling.

“We have made the decision,” Zuchowski told the publication, before adding that “we have not made the announcement”.

The report stated that the lifestyle bakkie would be based on the popular Tucson crossover, and would slot into the brand’s range in 2018.

Motor Trend reported that the production version of the Santa Cruz concept could be revealed as early as the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2016. Failing that, an unveiling at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January 2017 seems likely.

This latest report contradicts an earlier story out of Australia suggesting that the lifestyle pickup truck from Hyundai would arrive only after 2020.

Hyundai is gearing up to reveal a production-ready version of its Santa Cruz concept bakkie in coming months. Reports are indicating that the Santa Cruz may be shown at the Los Angeles Motor Show in November or at the Detroit Motor Show in early 2017. Hyundai's Tucson-based bakkie is expected to go on sale sometime in 2018. The new model has not yet been confirmed for the South African market, but if you consider Hyundai's success in South Africa and the high demand for leisure double-cab bakkies, we think the Santa Cruz would fit right in.

Hyundai Santa Cruz is a stylish bakkie

The Santa Cruz is said to be for the ‘urban adventurer’ who is in need of versatile yet stylish transportation. The Santa Cruz certainly looks stylish with its big front hexagonal grille and strong front-on features. The LED headlights have also been shaped to add a menacing appearance. There are also rear doors although you wouldn’t say so from the images here, Hyundai says the Santa Cruz has convenient rear-hinged rear doors which integrate seamlessly with the front door design. The oversized wheels add to the stance and are complete with centre-locking hubs. The Santa Cruz bakkie is an all-wheel drive machine, featuring Hyundai’s HTRAC system for distributing power to the wheels that need traction.

Engine power in this Santa Cruz concept comes courtesy of a 2.0-litre turbodiesel with 142 kW and 406 Nm so there’s plenty of shove and go available. It even promises to return 7.8L/100km. This is one of the best bakkie concepts we’ve seen in a long time and something like this would really suit our lifestyle oriented market. Go on Hyundai, build it so it looks exactly like this and then bring it to SA.
