2016 Hyundai Tucson (3rd Generation)

That interior screams cost cutting so its a downgrade IMO.

Have to disagree very strongly here. Except for that crappy infotainment system on the lower models (which I'm sure was on the old model too), it is an upgrade in every way. AWD with actual 50/50 lock, turbo engines, stop-start, dual clutch box available, better looks, better safety... and that interior looks a lot less like a dogs breakfast, with loads of new features. Still won't buy one, but it is much better than before.

Yeah it's no brainer it's a better car...

They're getting better for sure, but here in SA their now pricing themselves too close to Ford, VW etc... They're not there yet in terms of quality and tech though, so I'm really not sure why people are still buying. It's not value for money anymore. It's a bit of a ripoff.

Normally I wouldn't do this but you did it twice so I feel compelled to be a dick about it:

*they're

A GPS that tells me how long it'll take to get somewhere? That seals the deal!11one!!

And all but the top model gets the piss poor tiny screen

And their site still says "A revolution is coming". They should change it to "The over-hyped disappointment has arrived" already :p

R15000 extra for a GPS joh. Whilst one of the competitors charge R2000 for GPS, actually just for the maps licence the GPS is already standard.

I've been to a few dealers here in Durban. None of the models comes with an infotainment system like the overseas models. Although some of the recent media reports/reviews are stating otherwise, even the ELITE 1.6T AWD at 499k doesn't have the infotainment system.

Instead the ELITE 1.6T AWD has the same tiny outdated LCD screen like the base models. This is a real FAIL from Hyundai South Africa and possibly a deal breaker for me!

Sies!

Like really sies Sunday SA

You can blame Hyundai SA for the lack of features - they removed all of them so they can more money from consumer.

This is fact

Had a look at one on the weekend. Wife has the top of the range ix35 already. New Tucson does have a few more small features but that radio thing is even worse. Still no RDS either. Overall still a pretty plasticky car.

Which you would normally expect from a brand new release. For a compact SUV where the appeal lies in the interior this is a downgrade IMO.
Your mummy transporting kids and doing shopping turbo engine and AWD means squat.
