In SA you do get a lot on Essentia spec, otherwise it would not look favourable against the competition.

Just imagine if it was an entry level Golf you would've gotten next to nothing for your money

Not really. From G6 onwards they have improved a fair bit ito what base models offer.

Base G7 has a full infotainment system btw

I thought they had the same infotainment system as the Polo TSi Trendline. Meaning the sucky infotainment system.

Trendline is a B&W system.

If I was buying in that price range I'd go for the 1.0T Enjoy at R284K. You get beyond Golf Comfortline spec and quality at below Trendline prices.

- many have agreed the 1.4 is really good. No real need to go for the 1.6.

- good rear legroom but no rear air vents
