Wow that's messed up that the GT is not there. So you've got a big price jump from the Dynamique to the RS. Maybe the GT wasn't selling? It's such a great car.

Cup Diff and suspension probably costs the same as the EDC. at this stage you cant have both, either/or

Also the Dynamique used to be the 84kW model but now it's the 97kW one. And the Expression is now what the Dynamique used to be. So the Dynamique name is replacing the GT-line name. Very strange.

I wonder if the article is correct.

Renault SA rejigs Mégane range, lowers entry price

Renault South Africa has rejigged its local Mégane line-up, effectively discontinuing the GT and GT Line derivatives and lowering the entry price of the range.

The news comes as the local arm of the French brand announces pricing for its new Mégane RS, which will be offered in two variants at launch (with a flagship Trophy model to follow at a later stage).

From mid-September, the Mégane range will start at R274 900 for the Expression, which draws its urge from a naturally aspirated 1,6-litre petrol engine worth 84 kW and 156 N.m, mated to a five-speed manual. Previously, this base model was offered in Dynamique specification and cost R295 900. Renault SA says it made this change “in response to demand from certain sectors of the local market”.

Meanwhile, the Dynamique trim level is now offered with Renault’s turbocharged 1,2-litre four-cylinder petrol mill, which sends 97 kW and 205 N.m to the front wheels (before, this engine was reserved for GT Line variants, which were priced at R351 900 for the manual and R371 900 for the automatic). As before, there’s the option of a six-speed manual (R314 900) or seven-speed dual-clutch (R344 900) transmission.

A five-year/150 000 km warranty and three-year/45 000 km service plan (with intervals of 15 000 km on the core range and 10 000 km on RS models) come standard.

Hmmm that's disappointing about the loss of the GT and GT-Line. I wonder if the Expression will get the small screen and the Dynamique will get the one the GT-Line had...

N.A. 1.6 and the Golf's turbocharged 1.0l. Still good value for money though considering it will still have plenty standard features compared to the Golf.

Confirmed that there are no more LCD screens - standard radio and normal dials for the speedometer.

Still has cruise control and other nice features though.

Me too. Was hoping the Dynamique would get the portrait screen but that's staying the same

Renault have not put enough marketing to the Megane, at this point I think they would be better off discontinuing all the Megane variants and just bringing the Megane RS Cup in at a lower price (~R450,000).

Focus on Sandero, Clio, Captur and Duster which seem to be the ones bringing the sales. Make the Megane RS Trophy their Halo product as they are well known for great hot hatches.

Nah they must just advertise it. And I'm thinking they will now that the RS is here.

It looks like my car is now basically a limited edition. I'm still shocked that it's not part of the lineup anymore.
