Audi RS 4 Avant Gets Updated Looks And Tech

We knew it was coming it was just a matter of when and today is the day we see the refreshed Audi RS 4 Avant.

The biggest difference is obviously the Singleframe grille, which is a bit wider and, as such, falls into line with the rest of Audi’s new RS offerings. Flanking the grille are new optional matrix LED headlights, surrounded with dark bezels to emphasize the RS4’s purpose. Further back, the RS4’s wheel arches are just over an inch wider compared to the standard A4 Avant, so as to better accommodate the beefier tyres.

Wagon wonder! Audi RS4 Avant gets an early facelift

Although the current Audi RS4 only blasted into South Africa fairly recently, its maker has seen fit to lend the uber-wagon a mild facelift.

The exterior gains added aggression via updated headlamps, a new front bumper with remodeled air intakes and an integrated air intake strip at the base of the bonnet (similar to the current Audi A1). New LED taillamp clusters update the rear of the car.

An updated MMI touch-screen system completes a fairly sublte interior modification.

Hot estate receives RS6-aping design flourishes and new touchscreen infotainment system

Audi has given its RS4 Avant performance estate a facelift, including a reshaped grille and flared wheel arches, just two years after the current generation was launched.

The mild redesign follows on from the recent refresh of the standard A4 and is limited mostly to a revised front end design and enhanced interior technology.

The RS4’s front grille, bumper and lower splitter have been overhauled to further distance the performance variant from the standard model and bring it into line with the new RS6 Avant, which sports a notably more aggressive stance than the outgoing RS4.

The gloss black honeycomb grille featured across Audi Sport’s range of top-rung RS models has been designed without a frame to sit flush with the bumper. The model’s LED headlights have also been reshaped and can now be specified with darkened bezels.

As is tradition with Audi’s sportier models, the wheel arches are substantially flared to accommodate wider wheels and tyres, the RS4 measuring a full 30mm wider overall than the standard A4 at the front and rear.

Inside, the facelifted model receives a new 10.1in infotainment touchscreen, equipped with Audi’s new MMI acoustic response technology, in place of the outgoing car’s rotary controller.

Wicked wagon! ABT hands Audi RS4 Avant’s twin-turbo V6 yet more muscle

The folks over at ABT Sportsline have released a new tuning package for the facelifted Audi RS4 Avant, boosting the wagon’s peak output to 375 kW.

As standard, the German firm’s turbocharged 2,9-litre V6 generates 331 kW and 600 N.m, directed to all four corners via an eight-speed automatic transmission. But with the ABT power performance upgrade fitted, the estate delivers an even healthier 375 kW and 660 N.m.

New Audi RS4 Bronze Edition limited to 25 UK examples

Performance estate gains black body styling and contrasting bronze elements with added standard kit

Audi has unveiled a special Bronze Edition of its facelifted RS4 Avant performance estate with bespoke design elements and additional equipment as standard.

Available to order now from £82,395 and restricted to just 25 examples, the RS4 Bronze Edition is most notably marked out from the rest of the RS4 line-up with 20in bronze alloy wheels, Vesuvius Grey paint and black trim elements.

Based on the latest generation of the RS4, revealed late last year, the Bronze Edition features Audi’s new 10.1in MMI touchscreen infotainment system and that car’s newly reshaped front bumper and flared wheel arches.

The standard car's 2.9-litre turbocharged V6, producing 444bhp and 443lb ft, is carried over unchanged and can push the Bronze Edition from 0-62mph in 4.1sec and on to a limited top speed of 155mph. An RS Sport exhaust system – available on the standard car for £1250 – is fitted as standard and is said to amplify the RS4’s engine note.
