2025 Suzuki Swift GLX LED Headlight issues

I have a 2025 Suzuki Swift GLX as well. The DRL’s definitely dim when the LED Headlights are turned on. The DRL on that side switches off completely when you indicate.

Do they dim or do they just look dimmer because the headlights are brighter?

If they are really dimming that sounds almost like there isn’t enough power to run them all together.

But also why are the DRL’s even on at all if your headlights are on? It sounds like they are just becoming sort of the headlight array, so then it makes sense they would dim to the same level.

Or at the headlights not LED and normal halogen?

You are right. They just look dimmer because the headlights are brighter. I think i was under that impression because my Honda’s DRL’s are much brighter.

It’s interesting regardless that they stay on alongside the headlights.

Most cars automatically turn the DRL’s off the moment headlights go on.
 
On my car - the front OR rear fog-lights can ONLY be turned on if the park-lights or head-lights are also turned ON as well - I usually drive in the daytime with the park-lights (which I have fitted with Philips W5W LED bulbs) & front fog-lights (H7 55W halogen bulbs) turned ON, as my car does NOT have any DRL's, to make my car more visible by any approaching vehicles. I always turn on the head-lights (dipped beam) as well if there are inclement weather conditions with reduced visibility.

Well DRL’s don’t dim either.

They just turn off entirely or in sections so the indicator can be seen.

Or I would imagine in some case it’s literally the same light that switches to orange.

See I don’t think they are dimming at all.

The other lights going on just make it look that way.

Lol i do believe you. Yeah they do dim. After our chat here i tested them thoroughly on my Swift. They dim if you manually switch on the headlights, but it’s actually daytime. Also if you turn fogs on, but its daytime. At night or in a dark place like garage they do not dim…

It’s just that recording it from the side doesn’t really show what is happening.

It’s hard to know if there are just less lights in the array that are on or if other lights simply override the perceptions.

I’m still confused as to why they are staying on the start with.

Refer to the diagram I posted above in post #24 for an explanation of why most DRLS stay on, but dim to a lower intensity when you turn on the headlights...

The lower Osram DRL dual DRL/fog units (Model 101) can actually be wired to either switch OFF the DRLs completely when you turn on the headlights, or there is an option to wire them up so that the DRLS STAY ON when you turn on the headlights, but dim to a lower intensity (80%) instead.
